Summary: In this study, four types of conductive polyaniline powders were doped in different acids and blended with polydimethylsiloxane to prepare coatings with electromagnetic absorption and fouling desorption effects. Various characterization techniques were used to analyze the morphology, structure, interface properties, mechanical properties, and electromagnetic properties of the coatings. The antifouling performance of the coatings was evaluated through bacterial adhesion and marine diatom adhesion tests. The results showed that adding polyaniline improved the surface energy, roughness, mechanical properties, and antifouling properties of the coating, as well as enhanced its electromagnetic wave loss.

Summary: Based on the marine bio-adhesion strategy, tannic acid (TA) was assembled onto Gallium-based liquid metal (GLM) nanodroplets surface to form a poly(TA/PEI) adhesive layer via Schiff-base reaction and/or Michael addition, resulting in poly(TA/PEI)-functionalized GLM nanodroplets (GLM-PEI). The amine group of poly(TA/PEI) was then bonded with the zwitterionic precursor triisopropylsilyl methacrylate (TISM) through aza-Michael addition to obtain TISM-functionalized GLM nanodroplets (GLM-TISM). By hydrolyzing GLM-TISM in an aqueous environment, a zwitterionic group could be formed. The combination of bactericidal activity of GLM nanodroplets and the strong surface hydration of the zwitterionic group contribute to the excellent antifouling performance of PDMS@GLM-TISM, which shows good dispersibility in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) elastomer coating and self-repair ability.

Summary: This paper summarizes the research progress on fluorine-free superhydrophobic coatings, focusing on nonfluorinated polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fabrication methods and their pros and cons. The study indicates that these methods are applicable not only to PDMS, but also to coatings composed of other non-fluorinated compounds.

Summary: The study developed a new zwitterionic precursor for easy fabrication of amphiphilic antifouling coatings, which effectively mitigated microfouling and demonstrated excellent resistance to mussel fouling. The precursor could hydrolyze in-situ into zwitterionic groups during the curing process, improving compatibility with PDMS and leading to a relatively homogeneous and smooth surface after prolonged submersion.

Summary: CoCrWSi coatings with different Si contents were prepared and their high-temperature oxidation resistance at 900°C in air was studied. Characterization of oxide scales was done through microscopy and diffraction techniques. The results showed that the oxidation resistance of the coatings increased with increasing Si content, and the beneficial effects of Si content on oxidation resistance were explained in terms of Si depletion and prevention of outward diffusion of Cr atoms.

Summary: In this study, Ti-Si-C composite coatings were synthesized via plasma spraying with agglomerated powders prepared using Ti, Si, and sucrose powders. The Si content was found to influence the microstructure, mechanical properties, and oxidation resistance of the coatings, with changes in phase composition and hardness as Si content increased. The presence of Ti5Si3 in the coatings led to increased wear volume loss at room temperature, while the oxidation resistance improved with higher Si content.

Summary: The crystallization behaviors of plasma sprayed ceramic coatings are different from conventional crystal solidification and can affect their mechanical properties. However, there are few studies on this topic. In this study, Ti-Si-C ceramic coatings were investigated, and it was found that they mainly consist of TiC/Ti5Si3/Ti3SiC2 phases. The crystallization behaviors were influenced by the Ti content, and the coatings exhibited a lamellar columnar structure. The maximum microhardness was achieved at a Ti/Si/graphite ratio of 3:1:2.

Summary: Si-rich Mo-Si-B powders were deposited on Nb-Si based alloy using laser cladding assisted with ultrasonic vibration. The coatings exhibited improved microstructure and element distribution due to the cavitation and acoustic streaming effect of the ultrasonic vibration. The coatings also showed enhanced oxidation resistance, with the formation of a protective oxide scale consisting of amorphous aluminoborosilica and crystalline SiO2 layers.
