Summary: This study reveals the tumor-suppressive role of SETD7 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) by modulating KRAS methylation and degradation. SETD7 interacts with KRAS and methylates KRAS at lysines 182 and 184, leading to KRAS degradation and attenuation of the RAS/MEK/ERK signaling cascade.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis of 66 studies found that neoadjuvant immunotherapy is safe and efficacious for advanced resectable non-small cell lung cancer. Compared with chemotherapy alone, chemoimmunotherapy improved pathologic response rates and survival, particularly for patients with tumors expressing programmed cell death ligand-1, without increasing toxicities.

Summary: This study provides evidence supporting the use of treatment beyond progression (TBP) for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), showing significant advantages in post-progression progression-free survival, post-progression overall survival, and overall survival from the initiation of drugs. However, further large, randomized, controlled trials are needed to investigate the efficacy of TBP in lung cancer treatment.

Summary: This study aims to investigate occult non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), an underappreciated tumor, and found that it is an aggressive tumor with poor prognosis. Surgery is the preferred treatment. More attention should be paid to this overlooked disease due to no evidence of tumor imaging.

Summary: Invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma (IMA) is a rare subtype of invasive lung adenocarcinoma with differences in lymph node metastasis and KRAS mutations compared to non-IMA. Patients with IMA have a higher rate of intrapulmonary recurrence postoperatively, leading to significantly worse prognosis among those with lung recurrence compared to non-IMA patients. Overall survival rates at 5 years did not differ significantly between the two groups.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of bone metastasis on the prognosis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). The findings showed that bone metastasis was associated with poor overall survival (OS) in NSCLC patients treated with ICIs, but it did not affect progression-free survival (PFS). Therefore, clinicians should prioritize the management of NSCLC patients with bone metastasis and explore combination therapies for better outcomes.

Summary: This study found that there are variations in the use of molecular testing and targeted therapy among patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). While the rates of molecular testing for NSCLC were high, they were lower for CRC. The findings suggest that many patients are not receiving the recommended testing and targeted therapies.

Summary: In this systematic review, it was found that wild-type EGFR, high PD-L1 expression, and high bTMB are associated with a greater magnitude of efficacy from immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the efficacy of ICIs is not restricted by other clinicopathological factors such as sex, smoking history, and race.

Summary: Using CRISPR/Cas9 technology, Tang et al. show that HRAS and NRAS suppress the growth of KRAS-driven lung cancer by inhibiting KRAS-KRAS interactions and reducing downstream ERK signaling. The study highlights the specific suppressive role of RAS paralogues in KRAS-driven lung cancer, as compared to BRAF-driven lung cancer.

Summary: The VISTA antagonist CA170 has shown strong efficacy against lung tumorigenesis in mice, especially when combined with an MHCII-directed KRAS peptide vaccine. It increases CD8(+) T cell infiltration and decreases MDSC and Treg infiltration, while the KRAS vaccine primarily induces CD4(+) effector T cell expansion.

Summary: The study revealed that circ-FAT1 plays a crucial role in the development of colorectal cancer and affects malignant phenotypes such as apoptosis, migration, invasion, and angiogenesis in tumor cells through certain mechanisms. Furthermore, circ-FAT1 up-regulated the expression of FOSL2 by acting as a sponge for miR-619-5p. In vivo experiments demonstrated that circ-FAT1 silencing inhibits tumor formation in CRC xenografts.

Summary: As a result of the phase-out of polybrominated diphenyl ethers, organophosphate flame retardants (OPFRs) have been widely used as substitutes globally. Recent studies have focused on the absorption, bioaccumulation, metabolism, and internal exposure processes of OPFRs, particularly aryl-OPFRs and Cl-OPFRs. In vitro studies have shown that TDCPP may bio-accumulate more easily in organisms compared to TPhP, with specific CYP450 isoforms identified for their biotransformation. These findings provide new insights into the potential mechanisms of hepatotoxicity induced by OPFRs and the detoxification processes in hepatocytes.

Summary: This study investigated the charge injection and dissipation in graphene oxide/epoxy resin composite using Kelvin probe force microscopy, revealing that charges are more easily injected and dissipated faster in GO/EP composite, with electrons diffusing more rapidly than holes in the material. The faster charge injection and dissipation in GO/EP composite are attributed to the higher conductivity of the GO filler compared to pure epoxy resin.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs) on nitrogen removal by activated sludge. The results showed that NPs had a negative impact on NH4+-N removal efficiency and caused the accumulation of NO3--N and NO2--N. The toxic effects of NPs were reflected by the increasing reactive oxygen species generation and lactate dehydrogenase release. Furthermore, NPs reduced the relative abundance of nitrifiers and denitrifiers, leading to a decrease in nitrogen removal efficiency.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze clinical information and create a predictive model to better predict the prognosis of MDA5(+) DM-ILD. Factors associated with poor prognosis included older age, CADM, short duration of illness, fever, dyspnea, and multiple abnormal clinical and laboratory findings. Duration of illness, fever, presence of pleural effusion, high CT scores, and elevated AST were identified as independent predictors of poor prognosis in MDA5(+) DM-ILD. The nomogram model was shown to have high predictive accuracy in assessing the risk of death in these patients.

Summary: By introducing multifunctional ligands to coordinate the complicated CQDs surface with the thermodynamically optimal configuration, a synergistic passivation is performed in the direct synthesis of conductive PbS CQD inks. This leads to an order lower surface trap density and beneficial doping behavior, resulting in high V-oc and power conversion efficiency (PCE) for the reported PbS CQD solar cells.
