Summary: This study aimed to determine the anti-osteoporosis effect of Benincasa hispida extract and 2-furoic acid in ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis in mice. The results showed that bone density and bone formation markers were significantly recovered in the supplementation groups of 2-furoic acid and high-dose Benincasa hispida extract. Furthermore, bone resorption markers were significantly decreased in these supplementation groups. These findings suggest that Benincasa hispida extract could be used to prevent ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis and bone metabolic diseases.
