Summary: A rapid InDels genotyping method was established using fluorogenic probes-based multiplex real-time PCR with microfluidic test cartridge and portable real-time PCR instrument. Several validation studies showed that complete genotypes could be obtained within 90 minutes from input DNA as low as 100 pg, with high accuracy and specificity for challenging samples.

Summary: This article introduces a photonic PCR platform using hydrogel microparticles, which utilizes photothermal nanomaterials as heating elements for rapid and portable POCT. The researchers successfully demonstrate the ability to perform multiplex assays by loading multiple encoded pPIN microparticles in a single reaction.

Summary: More than 40 species of the genus Entamoeba exist, with eight infecting humans. A newly developed tetraplex real-time PCR assay can detect and differentiate four morphologically indistinguishable Entamoeba species, offering improved sensitivity and specificity compared to previous assays. This assay could help enhance understanding of the epidemiology and pathogenicity of these species, particularly in low-resource settings.

Summary: A direct STR typing protocol from bone samples was developed and optimized, showing high partial to full profiles for various bone elements. Performance was similar across bone elements, with higher peak heights in cancellous bone. The rapid, convenient, and safe protocol could improve efficiency of STR typing from bones.

Summary: This study reports the use of droplet digital PCR and quantitative real time PCR for the detection of Tilletia caries (also known as T. tritici), the pathogen causing common bunt of wheat. The research establishes a highly sensitive detection method using specific markers and improves the detection sensitivity of T. caries.

Summary: This paper proposes a lightweight saliency detection algorithm for real-time localization of livestock meat bones. It constructs a lightweight feature extraction network based on multi-scale attention to extract more adequate salient object features. The fusion of jump connections is introduced to capture fine-grained semantics and coarse-grained semantics at full scale. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves first-class detection accuracy with 40 times fewer parameters than the conventional model.

Summary: This paper proposes a scalable algorithm that synthesizes continuous trajectories to satisfy nonconvex temporal logic over reals (RTL) specifications. The algorithm separates discrete task planning and continuous motion planning, using efficient solvers to find dynamically feasible trajectories for high-dimensional systems.

Summary: The study aimed to reduce the run time of multiplex RT-PCR for detecting SARS CoV-2 N1 and N2 sequences and human RNase P (RP) sequence. By optimizing the Fast PCR protocol and comparing it with conventional PCR, the researchers found that Fast PCR significantly shortened the run time while yielding comparable results to conventional PCR.
