Summary: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a common and aggressive form of pancreatic cancer with limited survival rate improvement, mainly due to its resistance to chemotherapy. Hydrogel-based tumor models can help in understanding how matrix properties affect cancer cell growth, migration, and drug resistance.

Summary: This study reveals that cells are capable of migrating towards substrates with decreasing stiffness, in addition to the previously known migration towards substrates with increasing stiffness. The migration direction is determined by the optimal stiffness that allows cells to generate maximal traction, rather than the changes in canonical mechanosensitive signaling or actomyosin contractility.

Summary: This article investigates the application of beam learning based on position information in the initial access of mmWave MIMO cellular networks. By partitioning the serving area into smaller areas and restricting the number of beams, the impact of position inaccuracy and blockage on beam learning can be mitigated, leading to improved performance in initial access.

Summary: For the purpose of helping patients delay or avoid joint replacement surgery, a personalized scaffold design is necessary, which involves time-consuming trial-and-error analyses for in vivo tests and related experimental tests. A simulation approach has been developed to optimize fluid mechanical and material properties to predict osteogenesis and cartilage regeneration, ensuring high-accuracy in vivo tests in sheep.

Summary: Multicellular organisms exhibit a high degree of structural organization with specific cell types always occurring in characteristic locations. Recent experiments have shown that cell fates are not exclusively determined by the regulation of gene expression by local morphogen concentration. We provide a mechanistic description of how contact-mediated interactions allow information from the cellular environment to be incorporated into cell fate decisions.

Summary: Recent research has shown that the mechanical properties of the extracellular matrix play a crucial role in controlling cell adhesion, with the lateral deformability of polymer layers affecting cell spreading. In this study, a negative correlation between cell spreading and the degree of graft-polymerization of PNIPAAm was observed, regardless of the amount of fibronectin adsorbed on the substrate. Additionally, the modulation in stability and maturation of focal adhesion of the cells induced by surface lateral deformation is discussed in relation to the alteration of the density distribution of adsorbed adhesive ligands.
