Summary: The study found that implementation of non-communicable disease policies varies among countries but is generally improving over time. Countries with low income and low democracy have the lowest policy implementation, while corporate permeation is negatively associated with policy implementation. On the other hand, NCD mortality burden has a positive impact on policy implementation.

Summary: Pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae is a major cause of infant mortality. The introduction of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines has been reported to have a favorable impact in preventing pneumococcal disease. However, the decrease in infant mortality rates may not be solely attributed to the vaccines.

Summary: This study assessed the effects of COVID-19 on Asian agriculture and food systems and found that the resilience of farming and food systems was strengthened by inherent system characteristics and government policies prioritizing staple food production and distribution. Efforts to improve resilience should be central to recovery programmes in order to mitigate risks from future zoonoses and institutional vulnerabilities revealed by the pandemic.

Summary: This study assesses changes in health systems and policy indicators for maternal and newborn health across 78 low-and middle-income countries (LMICs) during 2008-2018, and examines contextual factors associated with policy adoption and systems changes. The results show that many LMICs substantially strengthened systems and policies for maternal and newborn health during this period. The odds of policy adoption and systems investments were significantly greater in countries that experienced economic growth, had strong female labor participation, and had strong country governance.

Summary: Unexpected transmission of pathogens between animals, humans, and their shared environments has wide-ranging impacts on society. The collaboration between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) has been ongoing for over two decades. The addition of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in 2021 to form the 'Quadripartite' creates a new avenue for engaging environmental sectors in addressing health risks and improving health security globally.

Summary: This paper reviews the principles and practices of learning health systems (LHS) in low/middle-income country (LMIC) settings, highlighting the importance of the connection between information, deliberation, and action for learning. It also discusses the challenges of limited resources and political implications in fostering learning within health systems.

Summary: This synthesis study found that the right to health can be utilized in addressing skilled health worker shortages in low- and middle-income countries by incentivizing state actors in high-income countries to consider national reputation risk, recognize their responsibility to support health workforce strengthening in LMICs, and consider the cost implications.

Summary: This study aimed to identify and describe the impact of food systems interventions on food security and nutrition outcomes in low-income and middle-income countries. The findings revealed that while some interventions have been well-evaluated, others that have significant impact on populations lack evaluation. Future research should focus on evaluating national-level policies, efforts to empower women in the food system, and the synthesis of dietary quality. Quasi-experimental approaches should be used to evaluate interventions that cannot be randomized.

Summary: Given the global consensus on low-carbon development and the urgency to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, coupled with China's strategic objective of achieving carbon neutrality and reaching its carbon peak, it is increasingly important to focus on areas that require adaptation for low-carbon development. The water supply system is one such critical area known for its significant contribution to carbon emissions. This study constructed an evaluation framework for the carbon emissions of China's water supply system, analyzing emission characteristics, emission right allocation, and right balance assessment. Findings revealed a slight increase in carbon emissions from 2010 to 2018, with a notable turning point in 2016. Coastal areas, such as Guangdong and Jiangsu, exhibited higher levels of carbon emissions. The study proposed tailored emission reduction paths for water supply systems in each region, offering theoretical and technical references for achieving the dual carbon goals.

Summary: Injuries are common in low-income and middle-income countries and are expected to increase. Timely access to healthcare facilities can reduce death and disability after injury. This study identified various barriers to access to quality injury care in Ghana, South Africa, and Rwanda, emphasizing the need for context-specific solutions to overcome these barriers.

Summary: In developing countries, especially African countries, the lack of a national health information management strategy poses a threat to the performance of Health Information Systems (HIS). Most countries opt for a data warehouse approach supported by DHIS2, but lack alignment with national strategies. Rigorous upstream thinking and a coherent conceptual framework are needed to strengthen HIS governance.

Summary: The study found heterogeneity in safety culture among Southeast Asian countries, largely due to the lack of priority given to patient safety policy compared to developed countries. Effective cooperation with countries like Vietnam, inducing patient safety culture, strengthening project formulation, is essential for the sustainable development of partner countries' health systems.

Summary: This study identifies 18 low- and middle-income countries with the highest potential for large-scale wheat flour and/or rice fortification to prevent the health impact of anemia and neural tube defects. Adequately fortified staples could avert a significant number of anemia cases, NTDs related birth defects, and child mortality, while generating economic benefits.

Summary: The survey conducted in Cuenca revealed a high prevalence of COVID-19 infection, particularly in certain demographic groups, despite good adherence to preventive measures among the population. Intensified testing strategies are recommended to address the ongoing high transmission rates, especially in certain areas.

Summary: An online survey conducted in Azuay province, Ecuador found that most respondents were willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, but some expressed concerns about side effects or its effectiveness. The study identified that older individuals, those with higher education levels, and those with a higher level of worry about COVID-19 infection were more likely to accept vaccination.
