Summary: Postnatal factors such as preterm birth, low birth weight, diarrhea, and complete basic immunization coverage were found to be associated with infant stunting in Sambas District, Indonesia. However, prenatal factors, such as short maternal stature, also played a significant role according to the multivariate model. Policy makers, particularly in the government, should focus on these prenatal and postnatal factors to prevent childhood stunting and its long-term consequences in adult life.

Summary: This study examined parents' propensity to take risks themselves and their propensity to accept risks for their child, as well as the association between parents' propensity to accept risks for their child and that child's medically-attended injury history. The results showed that parents were more comfortable in taking risks for themselves than for their child, and fathers were more comfortable with their children engaging in risks than mothers. Further research is needed to determine how parents' attitudes toward risk might relate to severe injury.

Summary: The study found that the acceptability of COVID-19 vaccines in the Romanian population is influenced by factors such as level of education, area of residence, and whether parents have been vaccinated. Vaccine acceptability is higher in the general population compared to the medical domain. Public health intervention programs are crucial for addressing vaccine hesitancy.

Summary: The study found a significant association between maternal employment and childhood stunting in slum areas, particularly in the absence of adequate family support. Integrating appropriate childcare support measures for low-income urban working mothers may be an effective strategy to help reduce the prevalence of chronic undernutrition among slum children.

Summary: This research aims to study the relationship between consanguineous marriages and childhood stunting in India, using data from the latest National Family Health Survey. The study found a significant association between consanguineous marriages and childhood stunting, with a higher prevalence in male children compared to female children. Measures such as premarital and pre-conception counselling are needed to reduce childhood stunting in children born to women in consanguineous marriages.

Summary: Despite significant investment, childhood malnutrition continues to be a significant public health problem especially in least developed countries. The study in Bangladesh found a significant association between household biomass fuel use and childhood underweight and stunting, highlighting the possible alternative risk factor for malnutrition. Further research is needed to explore the mechanism of how biomass fuel use results in chronic malnutrition.

Summary: In 2018, 42.6% of children under five in East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia had stunted growth, which has both individual and communal impacts. This study used secondary data from the 2018 Indonesia Basic Health Research to identify the risk factors for stunting in the province. The analysis revealed significant relationships between age group, low maternal education, children living in rural areas, and the incidence of stunting in children.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on child stunting. Analyzing the factors that cause stunting during a pandemic can provide effective prevention strategies. This study aims to determine the factors that influence stunting during the pandemic. Results show that lack of sanitation facilities and untreated water are significant factors. Water, sanitation, and hygiene initiatives must be included in policies and programs to combat child stunting.

Summary: This study investigated the professional development needs of registered nurses in Indonesia. The results showed that direct care tasks were rated higher in importance, performance, and training need, while supporting tasks had the lowest ratings in performance and training need. Nurses with less than one year of experience reported higher training needs. Hence, there is a need for locally tailored education opportunities to meet the specific needs of nurses.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the changing relationship between infant mortality and its predictors in Bangladesh from 2011 to 2014. Results showed potential risk factors in 2014 including household socioeconomic status, father's employment status, and age difference between parents. Urban areas achieved socioeconomic equity in infant survival while rural areas saw increased inequity from 2011 to 2014.

Summary: This study examines the association between community-level environmental characteristics and stunting in Bangladesh using data from the latest demographic and health surveys. The analysis reveals that rainfall, distance to protected areas, and vegetation index have a non-linear relationship with stunting, while temperature and distance to water bodies are inversely and positively related to stunting respectively. These findings demonstrate the importance of considering environmental characteristics in intervention design to mitigate the negative effects of environmental change on child health. Further research is needed to understand the causal pathways between environmental characteristics and stunting in Bangladesh.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the nutrition-related knowledge, attitudes, and practices of selected Bangladeshi school teachers across the country. A cross-sectional study using a multistage sampling method was conducted, and a pretested and structured questionnaire was used to collect data. The results showed that only 9.9% of the participants had a good understanding of childhood nutrition requirements, and around 54.2% were familiar with basic nutrition-related knowledge. Therefore, adequate planning and intervention measures should be developed to improve teachers' understanding, behavior, and practice regarding nutrition knowledge.

Summary: The study found that collective control and some aspects of social cohesion are positively associated with better mental well-being and self-rated health among residents involved in the Big Local ABI project. These positive associations were particularly stronger among women and participants with lower educational levels. Increasing residents' collective control in ABIs could enhance the health effects of ABIs.

Summary: Micronutrient deficiencies are a significant concern in Bangladesh, particularly among rural women of reproductive age. This study evaluated the diet quality of adolescent girls and adult women in Bangladesh, finding that nearly three quarters of participants had inadequate intake of key nutrients. Adolescent girls were at higher risk for inadequate intake of calcium, zinc, and energy compared to adult women. Factors like age, marital status, education, and household income were important determinants of diet quality among women of reproductive age in Bangladesh.

Summary: The study found that within the Bangladeshi community, females, married individuals, those living in London, second-generation immigrants, those with lower economic status, lower acculturation level, or lack of daily walking for at least 20 minutes were more likely to develop OR-NCDs. There are significant inter- and intra-regional disparities in OR-NCD risk among ethnic minorities in the UK, further exacerbating health inequalities.

Summary: This study longitudinally examined local health behavior inequalities during a period of austerity, finding significant disparities in smoking, alcohol use, and fruit and vegetable consumption between more and less deprived neighborhoods. Material factors were identified as the most important determinants of these health behaviors, suggesting the need for health promotion activities to better address these drivers.

Summary: This systematic review aimed to examine the effectiveness of Community Health Worker (CHW) interventions in reducing health inequities in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). The findings suggest that while CHW programs are able to reach many marginalized groups, health inequalities still persist in the populations they serve. The study highlights the importance of addressing barriers faced by disadvantaged groups and improving working conditions for CHWs to bridge health equity gaps.
