Summary: To elucidate the mechanism of EPO-mediated regulation of erythropoiesis, the grass carp EPO gene (GcEPO) was cloned and characterized. The tissue distribution data showed that GcEPO was widely expressed in detected tissues, with the highest expression level in the heart and followed in the liver. Ischemia models upregulated both mRNA and protein expression of GcEPO and modulated downstream signaling pathways. This suggests that GcEPO plays a paramount role in erythropoiesis through modulating the mentioned signaling pathways.

Summary: CD3 is a crucial component of the TCR-CD3 complex in adaptive immunity, with its homologues CiCD3γ/δ and CiCD3ε identified in grass carp and shown to be highly expressed in healthy fish and modulated by infections. A monoclonal antibody against CiCD3γ/δ was successfully produced, which showed good reactivity in Western blotting and flow cytometry analysis. The CiCD3γ/δ(+) cells were found to be localized in the gills and head kidney, accounting for a small percentage of lymphocytes in different organs.

Summary: In this study, grass carp Tollip (CiTollip) showed a faster and stronger response to LPS stimulation compared to poly I:C treatment, reducing the expression of tnf-alpha induced by LPS. Except for the truncated mutant of Delta CUE2 (1-173 aa), wild type CiTollip and other truncated mutants were able to associate with MyD88 and negatively regulate its induced NF-kappa B activation, indicating the crucial role of the C-terminal region, especially the connection between the C2 and CUE domains, in suppressing MyD88-induced NF-kappa B activation.

Summary: The study evaluated the effects of high stocking density on the transcriptome of grass carp, revealing that high stocking density may accelerate lipid metabolism and carbohydrate decomposition, while leading to abnormalities in immune system regulation. Therefore, emphasizing the importance of maintaining reasonable density in grass carp aquaculture.

Summary: This study investigates the evolutionary background and expression regulation of grass carp miRNAs. Multiple novel miRNAs have emerged during grass carp evolution, and both duplication and de novo production contribute to miRNA cluster formation, with de novo creation being more prevalent. Clustered miRNAs are more conserved and change slower, while unique miRNAs tend to have higher evolution rates and lower expression levels.

Summary: This study focused on the involvement of Igf3 in fish reproduction, particularly in grass carp, by isolating the gene and assessing its functions through various experiments. Igf3 was found to regulate gene expression in multiple tissues, affecting growth-related genes and glucose metabolism. This research is the first to reveal the mechanism by which Igf3 regulates the expression of growth-related genes in teleosts.

Summary: The study suggests that adiponectin plays critical roles in regulating glucose metabolism in fish. It promotes glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, and glycogen synthesis, increases glycogen content in the hepatopancreas, and reduces basal blood glucose level. Adiponectin A and adiponectin B have opposite regulatory effects on glucose uptake.

Summary: By culturing grass carp red blood cells in saline solution and L15 medium, the study investigated the changes in cell morphology during cell death. Flow cytometry analysis showed that prolonged exposure in these mediums increased the accumulation of reactive oxygen species and nitric oxide, promoting cell death. Using death inhibitors, it was found that ferroptosis played a key role in the death of these cells.

Summary: The present study evaluates the anti-inflammatory activity of Lactococcus lactis BL52 and isolates two active peptides responsible for the activity. The peptides demonstrate a dose-dependent inhibition of inflammatory cytokines and factors in vitro, as well as preventing their upregulation in vivo. The peptides also block a signaling pathway and relieve pathological inflammatory responses.

Summary: This 8-week experiment assessed the effect of dietary thiamin on the meat quality of grass carp. The results showed that optimal dietary thiamin improved grass carp flesh quality by increasing nutritional quality, improving flesh flavor, elevating fillet healthcare components contents, enhancing sensory characteristics, and enhancing flesh antioxidative capacity. The changes in muscle flavor, healthcare components, sensory characteristics, antioxidant capacity, target of rapamycin, and Nrf2 expression were correlated with the dietary thiamin.
