Summary: This study explored the prevalence and nature of risky sexual behavior among young adults in Hong Kong. Male participants exhibited higher levels of RSB and risk factors compared to female participants, although both genders shared similar psychosocial risk factors. Negative temperament and perceived neighborhood disorganization were found to be significant factors influencing RSB participation, with potential implications on preventing and reducing such behaviors.

Summary: This pilot study investigated the vocal strategies of Cantonese women when addressing attractive and unattractive males. The results showed that when speaking to an attractive male, Cantonese women used less breathy voice, lower fundamental frequency, and denser formants, all of which projected a larger body image. Participants who were more satisfied with their own height actively employed these vocal strategies.

Summary: The proposed study aims to develop and evaluate a comprehensive school-based sexuality education program in Hong Kong, targeting students, teachers, school management, social workers, guidance counselors, and parents. The outcomes of the study will focus on sexual health knowledge, awareness, communication skills, and intentions to use contraception among students, as well as self-efficacy and knowledge of sexual health resources among school employees and parents. Ultimately, the program aims to empower adolescents and adults in creating a supportive environment for sexual health promotion, while generating longitudinal evidence for the effectiveness of comprehensive sexuality education in improving sexual health outcomes.

Summary: This study investigated the nature and prevalence of self-reported sexual offending behaviors among youth in Hong Kong. The results showed that men reported higher levels of sexual assault threats and paraphilic interests compared to women, while women reported a higher level of a specific paraphilic interest subtype (transvestic fetishism). Overall, low self-control and high levels of risky sexual behaviors and paraphilic interests were important factors in the likelihood of engaging in sexual offending behaviors.

Summary: Although young people in Chinese societies want more sexuality education, they feel they haven't received the necessary resources for learning. There is a lack of research on Chinese preteens' views on sexuality education timing, knowledge perception, learning readiness, and reasons for seeking sexual health information. Data collected from Chinese preadolescents in Hong Kong showed that girls were more likely than boys to seek information from teachers, library books, and mothers, while boys were more likely to obtain information from friends, pornographic comics, and the internet. Factors such as gender, age, instructional sources, openness to sexual health knowledge, and perceived and actual knowledge levels predicted preteens' desire for earlier sexuality education. Girls and older students were significantly more likely to prefer receiving sexuality education in an earlier grade. Collaboration between preteens, their parents, and teachers in school-based sexuality education programs is recommended.

Summary: Western studies have shown that female sexual assertiveness is positively correlated with sexual satisfaction, and female sexual refusal helps prevent unwanted sexual contact. Additionally, using a dyadic approach to study the impact of sexual assertiveness on sexual satisfaction in couples can provide a more comprehensive understanding of sexual relationships.

Summary: This study found a significant association between childhood maltreatment exposure and subsequent diagnoses of conduct disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and personality disorders. The risk of psychiatric disorders following childhood maltreatment was not affected by history of sexual abuse, age at exposure, or gender. Individuals with a history of childhood maltreatment are vulnerable to psychiatric disorders, highlighting the need for integrated care to address their long-term medical and psychosocial needs.

Summary: This study examines parental beliefs, attitudes, and knowledge of the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) policy in Hong Kong. The results show that these factors are associated with parental advocacy for accessing SCRC information. Furthermore, parental motivation mediates the relationships between advocacy efforts and beliefs in child sexual abuse prevention, home-based sex education, and support of SCRC. The study highlights the importance of establishing a community-professional-government partnership platform to mobilize parents and raise public awareness regarding SCRC access regulations.

Summary: This study examines the implementation of the Hong Kong Strategy and Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (HKSAP) using the Smith Policy Implementation Process Model. The study finds that important achievements have been made, but barriers to greater implementation exist, such as tensions across sectors and inadequate resources. The COVID-19 pandemic has also affected the implementation of HKSAP. The study suggests expanding engagement with the public and professionals, creating a collaborative environment, and building a well-functioning monitoring and evaluation system as areas of focus in future AMR policies.

Summary: This study examines the transmission dynamics of the fifth wave of COVID-19 in Hong Kong by constructing a mathematical model with age-heterogeneity. The optimal control strategy is sought using optimal control theory, and numerical simulations and data fitting are conducted. The results suggest that prioritizing severe patients to be isolated in hospitals and isolating mild and asymptomatic patients at home can reduce the number of deaths. Considering contacts, home isolation, vaccination, and nucleic acid testing can achieve the control goals in the shortest time.
