Summary: This study demonstrates that healthful lifestyle interventions in traditional healthcare settings can improve biomarkers of cardiometabolic disease. The findings are limited by small sample sizes and further large-scale, rigorous studies are needed to establish the effectiveness of lifestyle interventions in similar settings.

Summary: This study investigated the effectiveness of a 3-year worksite lifestyle intervention on cardiovascular metrics and found that the intervention was associated with significant improvement in cardiovascular health and behavioral metrics in middle-aged asymptomatic adults. However, the effectiveness of the intervention decreased after 1 year as the intensity of the intervention was reduced. The baseline subclinical atherosclerosis level also influenced the effectiveness of the intervention.

Summary: The study found that glucocorticoid receptor (GR) expression is significantly higher in the sarcomatous components compared to the carcinomatous components in ovarian and uterine carcinosarcomas. In contrast, estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) expression is significantly lower in the sarcomatous component. The high GR and low ER/PR expression in the sarcomatous cells may be associated with epithelial to mesenchymal transition and could potentially serve as a therapeutic target.

Summary: This retrospective analysis of cervical cancer patients receiving extended-field chemoradiation reveals that large volumes of low-dose radiation to bone marrow are associated with acute hematologic toxicity, which is also influenced by race. Restricting bone marrow doses to below 70% to 75% may help reduce hematologic toxicity in these patients.

Summary: The study found that nursing homes with discordant scores engage in more quality improvement strategies than poor performers, but they do not seem to invest in quality improvement in resource-intensive, broad-based ways that would spill over into other domains of quality and change their trajectory of improvement. In contrast, poor-performing facilities lacked the leadership and continuity of staff required for even low-resource interventions.
