Summary: An independent study found that the risk of arterial occlusive events (AOEs) associated with ponatinib may have been overestimated, with the actual AOE rates being lower than previously reported. Patients with multiple cardiovascular risk factors have a higher risk of experiencing AOEs.

Summary: In this study, acrylic acid and sodium styrene sulfonate were grafted onto cellulose acetate by free radical polymerization to create a graft copolymer with heparin units. This copolymer was used to coat adsorbent resin for disposable hemoperfusion devices, improving blood compatibility. Tests showed that the modified resin had good adsorption of small and medium-sized molecules, and greatly improved blood compatibility. It also exhibited biocompatibility, no pyrogenic reaction, low cytotoxicity, and no acute systemic toxicity. The resin has potential applications in uremia, hyperbilirubinemia, and rapid treatment of pesticide poisoning.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the potential association between glaucoma and peripheral arterial occlusive disease. The results showed that patients with glaucoma had a higher risk of developing peripheral arterial occlusive disease compared to those without glaucoma. The risk was particularly higher in the age group of 20 to 39.

Summary: This study reviews preclinical studies on the role of commercially available silver-coated grafts in preventing vascular graft infection (VGI). In vitro studies showed positive antimicrobial effects, while in vivo studies had conflicting and mixed results. More data are needed to guide the appropriate use of silver grafts given the lack of convincing preclinical evidence and their poor performance in clinical studies.

Summary: This article mainly discusses the importance of copper and silver nanoparticles in the development of antimicrobial textiles, compares their antibacterial effects, and explains the physical and chemical interactions responsible for their antibacterial action. It also emphasizes the negative impact of pathogenic microbes on textiles and possible interactions of antimicrobial agents with microbes.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the occurrence of early bifurcation of the right hepatic artery (RHA) and its significance in living-donor liver transplantation. The results showed a high incidence of early bifurcation of the RHA, which has important implications for liver transplantation surgeries.

Summary: The study on endovascular treatment of femoropopliteal arterial diseases suggests that drug eluting stents are more effective in terms of primary patency and target lesion revascularization. Sirolimus stents appear to be more effective in the femoropopliteal segment compared to paclitaxel stents.

Summary: The present research focuses on the structural analysis of the NQ21 peptide and investigates the impact of different solid SERS-active substrates on the peptide's secondary structure through surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra. The study suggests that silver particles can be used for peptide detection with greater enhancement but potential analyte destruction, while SERS-active gold-coated nanovoids are recommended for precise study of the peptide's secondary structure and composition.

Summary: This study compares the outcomes of arterial grafting and venous grafting as methods of pedicle lengthening in head and neck microvascular reconstruction. The results suggest that arterial grafting may provide a more reliable outcome compared to venous grafting, although the difference was not statistically significant. There were no significant differences in flap take-back and postoperative complications between the two groups.

Summary: The study compared the efficacy and safety of DCDs and BSV in treating femoropopliteal arterial occlusive disease, finding no significant differences in short-term efficacy and mortality rates between the two. However, DCDs were associated with lower risk of early complications compared to BSV.

Summary: This study assessed the safety and viability of popliteal endarterectomy for isolated popliteal disease. The results showed that popliteal endarterectomy is a durable open surgical alternative to bypass, with short operative times, low complication rates, and excellent long-term patency in carefully selected patients.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed skin graft surgeries using cyanoacrylate (CA) tissue glue as a fixation method. The study found a high graft uptake rate compared to other fixation methods. However, partial graft loss was observed in some cases, highlighting the need for further research on long-term outcomes and cost-effectiveness.

Summary: This study analyzed the association between prophylactic antibiotic use for TACE and the occurrence of liver abscess, finding that antibiotic use was associated with a reduced occurrence of liver abscess requiring procedural intervention. There was no significant difference in 30-day in-hospital mortality between the groups, but the length of stay was longer in the antibiotics group.

Summary: This article presents an integrative laboratory class on vascular physiology bridging to vascular medicine. The four experiments rely on oscillometry and venous occlusion plethysmography. We describe in detail this new class regarding structure, experimental setup, and experimental procedure, and we give insight into the applied materials. Moreover, we present the experimental data of 74 students and a quantitative evaluation of the students' learning success and acceptance.
