Summary: Lansoprazole exerts antioxidant effects by activating the Nrf2 pathway and provides hepatoprotection in a drug-induced hepatitis animal model. The cytoprotective effect of lansoprazole on liver epithelial cells against cisplatin-induced cytotoxicity is mediated through the p38 MAPK signaling pathway. This study suggests the potential application of lansoprazole in preventing and treating oxidative liver injury.

Summary: The present study found that heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) can attenuate endotoxin-induced acute lung injury (ALI) by regulating nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD(+)) and NAD(+)-mediated mitonuclear communication through the PGC1 alpha/PPAR gamma pathway. The study observed that NAD(+) affected mitonuclear communication and imbalance, and that the inhibition of the PGC1 alpha/PPAR gamma signaling exacerbated septic lung injury by reducing NAD(+) levels.

Summary: The study demonstrated that pretreatment with hydromorphone could alleviate pneumoperitoneum-induced lung injury in mice by enhancing HO-1-regulated mitochondrial dynamics. In clinical patients, hydromorphone pretreatment resulted in lower levels of CC-16 and ICAM-1 compared to morphine pretreatment.

Summary: Hydrogen-rich water (HRW) protects mice with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease by increasing the expression of Sirt1 in hepatocytes, which leads to the suppression of abnormal fat metabolism. In a NASH mouse model, HRW reduces the expression of inflammatory cytokines, alleviates tissue damage, and reverses preexisting hepatic fibrosis.

Summary: Guggulsterone (GS) exerts anti-inflammatory effects by inducing heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression through reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. GS inhibits the expression of inflammatory mediators and prolongs survival in an endotoxemia model.

Summary: Research shows that canagliflozin can act as a novel inducer of HO-1 in human ECs. While HO-1 contributes to the anti-inflammatory action, it does not affect the anti-proliferative and antimigratory effects of the drug.

Summary: Salidroside has been found to significantly improve diabetes-induced cardiac dysfunction, hypertrophy, and fibrosis by up-regulating HO-1 expression through activation of the AKT signaling pathway. This demonstrates the cardio-protective effect of salidroside in diabetic mice, which is dependent on AKT signaling activation.

Summary: This study reveals that Cav1 deficiency in mice provides protection against acute liver injury, reducing hepatocyte degeneration, necrosis, and apoptosis as well as lowering ALT levels. Cav1 is also crucial for the polarization of hepatic macrophages, with its deficiency inhibiting the polarization towards the M1 phenotype. These findings suggest that Cav1 expressed in macrophages could be a potential therapeutic target for acute liver injury.

Summary: Dengue virus (DENV) infection is a life-threatening disease with no effective treatment options. However, a study found that sulforaphane (SFN) has significant antiviral activity against DENV by inducing heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression and inhibiting viral protease activity. This suggests that SFN could be a promising candidate for treating DENV.

Summary: The stress-induced enzyme Hmox1 plays a protective role against cardiovascular diseases and ischemic injury by interacting with HIF-1 alpha and regulating cellular metabolism. Lack of Hmox1 leads to impaired blood flow recovery, tissue necrosis, and autoamputation, highlighting its crucial role in ischemic injury protection.

Summary: This study demonstrated that FOR protects against CIS-induced AKI through activation of the PPAR alpha/Nrf2/HO-1/NQO1 pathway. Additionally, FOR and eupatilin promote cell viability and antioxidant enzyme activity, while showing significant inhibitory effects on apoptosis and inflammatory factors in HK-2 cells.
