Summary: This article reports two mononuclear complexes, [NiL] (Complex 1) and [CuL] (Complex 2), as electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction using acetic acid as the substrate. These complexes have been synthesized under mild conditions and characterized by various methods. The X-ray structure of Complex 1 shows a square planar geometry around the nickel center. Both complexes effectively reduce protons to generate hydrogen. Control experiments have been carried out to understand the role of these catalysts and their relevance in this regard. The turnover frequency (TOF) values for Complex 1 and 2 are determined as 653.1 and 777.5 s-1, respectively. Hydrogen is evolved through the reduction of the metal center followed by the formation of metal hydride species.

Summary: Despite the advances in understanding flexibility in organic single crystals and their defect-free packing, they are rarely used in electronic devices. This study reports on the modulation of mechanical flexibility and fluorescence of pyrene-functionalized naphthalidenimine single crystals in response to chemical stimuli. Crystallographic investigations reveal that subtle changes in weak intermolecular interactions play a crucial role in defining the mechanical flexibility of these crystals. Furthermore, the multi-stimuli responsive properties of these single crystals are used to build a multiple-input, multiple-output molecular logic gate.

Summary: Two novel copper(II) complexes were synthesized and comprehensively characterized. The crystal structures of both complexes were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Powder X-ray diffraction studies on bulk samples confirmed their solid-phase purity. Cyclic voltammetry experiments showed the redox behavior of the complexes. UV-vis spectra demonstrated the stability of the complexes in solution. Thermal stability and degradation behavior was studied using thermogravimetric analysis. The magnetic moments of the complexes were determined, and their cytotoxic activity against lung cancer cells was screened.

Summary: A series of novel macroacyclic Schiff base ligands and their Cu (II) complexes were synthesized and evaluated for their anticancer and antibacterial activities. Among them, Cu1 showed the highest cytotoxic activity against breast cancer cells, while compound 3 exhibited the most potent antibacterial activity against K. rhizophila and S. aureus. The results suggested that these compounds have potential applications as anticancer and antibacterial agents.

Summary: Two structurally different coordination complexes, C1 and C2, were synthesized from two different organic ligand backbones and characterized using various techniques. NC1 and NC2 nanoparticles were successfully prepared by slashing C1 and C2 down using a simple mechanical method and maintaining the structural integrity of the complexes. This study demonstrated the potentially higher biological activity of NC2 compared to NC1 due to a greater number of metal centers in NC2 as a polymer.

Summary: The efficient synthesis of amino acid Schiff base copper(II) complexes was achieved using a microfluidic device. Schiff bases and their complexes are highly biologically active and catalytic. A conventional beaker-based method required a reaction time of 4 hours at 40 degrees C, but in this study, a microfluidic channel enabled quasi-instantaneous synthesis at room temperature (23 degrees C). The products were characterized using UV-Vis, FT-IR, and MS spectroscopy. The efficient generation of compounds using microfluidic channels has the potential to greatly contribute to drug discovery and material development due to high reactivity.
