Summary: Fragrant rapeseed oil (FRO) is known for its characteristic aroma. This study identified and quantified the key aroma-active compounds in FRO and analyzed their correlation with roasting parameters. Dimethyl trisulfide and 4-isothiocyanato-1-butene were found to be the most important aroma-active compounds in FRO and their levels changed with roasting temperature and time. Based on sensory evaluation, specific time limits were recommended for different roasting temperatures to satisfy consumer preference.

Summary: The study found that prolonging the harvest time significantly increased the head rice rate but reduced the protein and amylose content in fragrant rice. Additionally, the activity of P5CS decreased, while the content of P5C in the grains increased, and the activity of OTC, 2-AP, and proline in the grains showed a parabolic trend. In conclusion, the harvest time within a week had no significant effect on the yield of fragrant rice but did affect the aroma accumulation and quality of fragrant rice, which varies among different varieties.

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of preconditioning methods on the properties of alkali-activated concrete, revealing that ambient cured specimens exhibit higher compressive strength. Lime water cured alkali-activated concrete specimens show higher compressive strength and oxygen permeability index, as well as lower water sorptivity compared to specimens cured under other conditions.

Summary: Curing methods significantly affect the properties of ultra-high-performance concrete. Steam curing achieves the highest strength and modulus, while accelerated carbonation curing is an environmental-friendly option. On a long-term basis, accelerated carbonation curing is slightly better than the other two methods. Therefore, it is a feasible and environmentally friendly curing method for ultra-high-performance concrete.

Summary: A less-toxic and durable flame-retardant treatment for cotton fabrics was developed using a mixture of blocked isocyanate, citric acid, and a fire-retardant agent. The treated samples showed improved flame retardancy, tear strength, crease recovery angle, and durability even after multiple washing cycles.

Summary: Organic cultivation is an eco-friendly planting strategy. This study examined the effects of organic cultivation on yield, grain quality, and volatile organic compounds in fragrant rice. The results showed that organic cultivation increased 2-AP and amylose contents, while decreasing crude protein contents. Additionally, organic cultivation led to different flavor profiles compared to inorganic cultivation.

Summary: Selenium application can increase the 2-AP content and yield of fragrant rice, regulate transcript levels of genes involved in 2-AP biosynthesis, increase the contents of precursors and activities of enzymes related to 2-AP, as well as enhance grain Se concentration. Among the three application methods, foliar application showed the highest grain yield, grain 2-AP content, and grain Se concentration.

Summary: Non-destructive evaluation techniques are used for studying reinforced concrete structures in marine environment. This paper investigates the possibility of evaluating chloride profiles in high electrical resistivity concrete using Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT). The results show a high similarity between Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) profiles and Destructive Evaluation (DE) profiles, indicating the effectiveness of ERT for evaluating chloride profiles in concrete.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of adding metakaolin on the mechanical properties of cement mortar and explores the effects of humidity curing methods. Results show that incorporating 10% metakaolin greatly enhances the early strength of cement, and short-term wet curing can achieve high compressive strength. The cement mortar with metakaolin also exhibits excellent resistance against sulfate corrosion.
