Summary: This study investigated the use of modified polypropylene wax grafted with maleic anhydride as a replacement for beeswax on wood furniture. The modified polypropylene wax showed higher melting temperature, better heat resistance, adhesion, and surface performance compared to beeswax. It is suggested that the modified polypropylene wax could be used as a synthetic wax in wood coatings.

Summary: Grafting hydrolyzed poly(ethylene-alt-maleic anhydride) onto pulp fibers increases the density of surface charge groups and can regenerate reactive succinic anhydride groups through high-temperature curing. This grafting process does not affect pulp refining characteristics but can significantly improve the wet strength of papers under specific drying conditions. The curing process generates anhydride groups that increase the ester linkages on fiber surfaces, giving the pulps thermosetting properties.

Summary: A lightweight bacterial cellulose/polypropylene-graft-maleic anhydride (BC/PP-g-MA) composite cryogel was created through a temperature induced phase separation (TIPS) method, showing promising oil adsorption capacity for efficient oil/water separation. With low density, high porosity, and high surface area, this composite cryogel demonstrated excellent adsorption capacity (up to 136 g/g) for various oils and organic solvents.

Summary: In this study, the reactive compatibilization of polypropylene/polyamide 66 blends using polypropylene-graft-maleic anhydride as a compatibilizer was quantitatively assessed. The results showed that increasing the degree of interfacial reaction can improve the interfacial adhesion and enhance the strength of the blends.

Summary: Linseed oil was modified with maleic anhydride and combined with alginate to produce hybrid filaments, with the impact on tensile performance evaluated. The modified oil was extruded into CaCl2, forming thin filaments, and its structure was verified with 2D-NMR. Comparison with alginate filaments prepared with calcium salts revealed the induced impact of composition and charge on tensile performance.

Summary: In order to improve the compatibility of PLA/PP slices, MAH and PP-g-MAH were selected as additives, and biodegradable PLA/additive/PP slices were prepared by melt blending. The results showed that different additives had different effects on the tensile and thermal properties of the slices. MAH could reduce the glass transition temperature, while PP-g-MAH could increase the thermal decomposition temperature.

Summary: In this study, thermoplastic starch (TPS) was modified by incorporating gelatin (Gel) and polyethylene-grafted-maleic anhydride (PEMAH) to improve its mechanical properties. The addition of Gel improved the morphology of the TPS/PEMAH blend, resulting in the formation of nanoparticles. It was found that the reaction between Gel and PEMAH enhanced interfacial adhesion and mechanical properties.

Summary: The use of biocomposites is increasing due to their recyclability, biodegradability, and decreased CO2 emission levels compared to pure polyolefin plastics. Atomistic molecular dynamics (MD) simulations provide a powerful way to examine the atomic-level structure and mechanical properties of biocomposites. In this study, polypropylene-cellulose biocomposites were examined using maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (PP-MAH) as a coupling agent, and the results were comparable to the experimental literature values, showing the applicability of MD in studying the atomic-level structure-property correlations of these biocomposites.

Summary: Waste resource utilization is an important means to protect the environment by saving energy and reducing costs. This study presents a method of preparing composites by adding FGD gypsum directly into epoxy resin with PGM as a compatibilizer. Results showed that the addition of PGM improved the tensile and impact properties of the FGD gypsum/epoxy resin composites, with a significant enhancement compared to neat epoxy resin.

Summary: This article proposes the use of maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (MAPP) as the matrix resin for continuous glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic prepreg. The compression molding parameters and plying sequences are optimized. The mechanical results show that the tensile and bending strength are maintained while the modulus is significantly enhanced in the fiber-metal laminates. The findings are important for designing lightweight structural parts in automobile applications.

Summary: This study focused on the grafting polymerization of maleic anhydride and dibenzoyl peroxide with poly(epsilon-caprolactone) (PCL). The effects of stirring time, maleic anhydride amount, and benzoyl peroxide amount on the grafting ratio were investigated. The optimal conditions were determined, and the kinetic thermal decomposition and activation energy of the grafted polymer were studied. The results showed that grafting maleic anhydride hydrophilically enhanced PCL, facilitating the creation of a plastic-biomaterial composite.

Summary: A modified ternary nanocomposite composed of polypropylene (PP), maleic anhydride-grafted PP, and core-shell structure SiO2@ZrO2 nanoparticles is proposed to achieve improved breakdown strength (BDS) and suppressed dielectric loss. By tailoring the thickness of the SiO2 shell and the nanofillers content, the dispersion of particles is improved, and deep trap density and interaction force between molecules are enhanced. As a result, the restricted electron transportation raises the DC BDS and the tan delta remains at a low level.
