Ultrasound-Assisted Eco-Friendly Synthesis of Triarylmethanes Catalyzed by Silica Sulfuric Acid

An efficient and eco-friendly synthesis of triarylmethanes by the reaction of arenes with aldehydes in the presence of silica sulfuric acid as a heterogeneous and reusable catalyst under ultrasonic irradiation is reported. The advantages of this protocol are the use of green solvents, inexpensive catalyst, commercially available precursors, reusability of SSA, simple work-up, high yields and short reaction times.

Synthesis of Azine- and Hydrazone-Based Triarylmethanes

Summary: A series of new formylated-triarylmethanes (FTRAMs) were successfully synthesized via the Friedel-Crafts reaction of arenes with terephthalaldehyde or isophthalaldehyde in the presence of silica sulfuric acid (SSA) under solvent-free conditions. Subsequently, a series of new azines and hydrazones derivatives of formylated-triarylmethanes were obtained in good yields. The structures of all compounds were confirmed by elemental analysis, IR, H-1 NMR and C-13 NMR spectroscopy.

Summary: Eight novel complexes containing four bidentate N,O-donor halogenated bis-Schiff base ligands were synthesized and their structures were confirmed by various spectroscopic techniques. Both experimental and theoretical results demonstrated that the DNA-binding affinity of the complexes increases with decreasing electronegativity of the substituted halogen atom.

Summary: The catalytic activity of four novel N,N-bidentate triarylmethane-based ligands with beta-pyridyl residues in Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions was studied, showing excellent activity under thermal and sonochemical reaction conditions. The methodology provided a straightforward way for chemo- and homoselective cross-coupling reactions, with the structures of synthesized compounds fully characterized and studied for their coordination with palladium acetate.

Copper-Catalyzed Arylation of Olefins Using a Novel N,N-Bidentate TRAM-Based Ligand: Application in Synthesis of Functionalized Triarylmethanes[]**

Summary: The novel N,N-bidentate triarylmethane-based ligand showed excellent activity in Mizoroki-Heck reactions, and was identified as a useful alternative to phosphine ligands. The in-situ generated complex with Cu(OAc)(2) exhibited high efficiency in cross coupling reactions, leading to a selected library of formylated olefins in high yields. Additionally, the Friedel-Crafts alkylation of arenes with the derived olefins catalyzed by Fe(OTs)(3) was employed for the preparation of functionalized triarylmethanes, offering important advantages such as mild reaction conditions, short reaction times, high yields, simple work-up procedure, and broad substrate scope.

Site-selective nucleophilic substitution reactions of 2,4,5,6-tetrachloropyrimidine with sulfonamides: Synthesis of novel trichloropyrimidine-arylsulfonamide hybrid derivatives

Summary: The nucleophilic substitution reactions of aryl sulfonamides with tetrachloropyrimidine were investigated, resulting in the synthesis of a novel series of trichloropyrimidine tagged sulfonamides. The study revealed the site-selective nucleophilic attack of aryl sulfonamides at specific positions of tetrachloropyrimidine, leading to the formation of major and minor products. The chemical structure of the compounds was confirmed through various analytical techniques.

Practical Synthesis of Novel Symmetrical and Unsymmetrical Tetrakis(aryl/heteroaryl) Adducts Containing Polyconjugated Linkages

Summary: This study evaluated a novel N,N-bidentate TRAM-based ligand in Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions, showing promising activity as an alternative to traditional phosphine ligands. The in-situ generated complex of this ligand with CuI exhibited excellent activity in the cross-coupling of aryl bromides with 4-formylphenyl boronic acid, resulting in good yields of a pre-selected library of compounds.

Site-selective nucleophilic substitution reactions of pentafluoropyridine with hydroxybenzaldehydes: synthesis of triarylmethanes comprising perfluoropyridine moieties

Summary: The nucleophilic substitution reactions of pentafluoropyridine with hydroxybenzaldehydes were examined, and the selectivity of reactions was found to be influenced by reaction conditions, reactant ratio, and nucleophilicity of the derived potassium formylphenolates. Under mild basic conditions, the nucleophilic attack occurred exclusively at the C-4 position of pentafluoropyridine, resulting in the formation of 4-((perfluoropyridin-yl)oxy)benzaldehydes in high yields. However, under harsh conditions, 3-hydroxybenzaldehyde acted as an effective nucleophile for replacing fluorine atoms at C-2 and/or C-6 positions of pentafluoropyridine. The controlled reactions of pentafluoropyridine with different amounts of 3-hydroxybenzaldehyde led to the synthesis of unsymmetrical products with varying yields.
