Summary: Ocular rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition that primarily affects the eyes with symptoms such as chronic blepharoconjunctivitis and meibomian gland dysfunction. Corneal complications can include vascularization, ulceration, and scarring, and treatment options vary depending on disease severity. Ocular rosacea can also be associated with systemic disorders like cardiovascular disease.

Summary: This study describes the clinical, meibographic, and interferometric signs in children with ocular rosacea. It found that meibographic abnormalities were more severe in children with ocular rosacea, and they were correlated with clinical severity, disease duration, and a history of eye disease.

Summary: This study found that ocular symptoms are common in subjects with rosacea, with dryness, tearing, foreign-body sensation, and photophobia being the most common ones. Subjects with rosacea had a higher risk for foreign-body sensation and decreased visual acuity in the dark compared to those without rosacea.

Summary: This study found that ocular comorbidities such as blepharitis, conjunctivitis, glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, and chalazion are more prevalent among Koreans with rosacea. Female subjects and individuals younger than 50 exclusively showed higher odds for chalazion. Clinicians should proactively check ocular symptoms in rosacea and consider joint care with an ophthalmologist when needed.

Summary: This article presents a randomized controlled trial to evaluate the impact of sub-microbial antibiotic dosing of doxycycline on the ocular and gut flora. The results of this study will enhance our understanding of the overall systemic effects of long-term sub-microbial antibiotic treatment for chronic recurrent ocular inflammatory diseases.

Summary: This study reported the demographic, clinical, and laboratory characteristics of ocular syphilis based on a 6-year case series study from an eye center in East-China. The results showed that early diagnosis of ocular syphilis is still challenging in clinical practice, and syphilis tests should be routinely performed in patients with specific ocular symptoms.

Summary: The prevalence of ocular sarcoidosis (OS) in Northern Ireland is relatively high, with 80% of cases progressing to second organ involvement. Elevated intraocular pressure and glaucomatous changes are common ocular complications. The concurrent use of systemic ACE inhibitors can be useful in diagnosis.

Summary: Ocular rosacea, a special manifestation of rosacea, is common in patients with unspecific symptoms. It often coexists with skin symptoms and can impact patients' overall well-being and treatment satisfaction. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are important for improving patient care.

Summary: The study investigated the occurrence and distribution of organophosphate esters (OPEs) in inland and coastal waters in Thessaloniki, Greece, during the period 2019-2020. OPEs were found to be ubiquitous pollutants in the aquatic environment, with varying concentrations in rivers, coastal sites, and streams. Risk assessment showed potential adverse effects of OPEs in streams but not in rivers and coastal sites.

Summary: This review discusses the diagnostic and interventional procedures conducted in two university memory clinics and two day care centers in North Greece, and their contributions to the scientific field of dementia. By establishing a protocol that includes diagnosis criteria, neuropsychological assessment, laboratory examinations, and non-pharmacological interventions, the study has provided useful guidelines on treating major and minor neurocognitive disorders in Thessaloniki. Additionally, the establishment of patient databases, educational programs, and participation in international research programs has strengthened the network's contribution in the dementia field.

Summary: The pine wood nematode is a forest tree pathogen that causes pine wilt disease and is transmitted through beetles. It has spread beyond its natural range due to human activity, leading to severe environmental and economic damages. Countries worldwide are taking measures to control its spread, including annual surveys and examination of pine tree samples. Greece has established a network to collect and examine wood samples, contributing to our understanding of indigenous nematode species.

Summary: The preservation and promotion of agroforestry systems are important for ecosystem services, biodiversity benefits, and climate change mitigation. However, traditional agroforestry systems in the EU face adaptation problems. This study assesses the managerial framework of olive agroforestry practices in Northern Greece and analyzes the economic and environmental implications of four production plans. The results show significant deviations among the production plans and suggest the need for a decision support system for preserving current agroforestry systems.

Summary: Sarcoidosis and sarcoid-like reactions can develop in cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), posing diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Our review identified 80 cases of ICIs-associated sarcoidosis or SLRs, with melanoma being the most common malignancy. While systemic prednisolone was not always needed for treatment, a significant number of patients had to discontinue ICIs therapy due to these reactions.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the characteristics of pruritus induced by immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and evaluated the effectiveness of different therapeutic modalities. The results showed that pruritus per se occurred in 22.0% of ICI-induced pruritus patients, with the majority also presenting with additional cutaneous toxicity. Antihistamines and topical regimens were the first-line treatment, while narrow-band UVB, oral steroids, and GABA analogs were used as second-line interventions in resistant cases. The study confirmed the efficacy of current treatment strategies and suggested NBUVB as a potential steroid-sparing alternative.

Summary: This study reviewed current data on the clinical and dermatoscopic features of cutaneous sarcomas (CS) in order to facilitate early diagnosis and prompt management. Based on available reports, CS are characterized by mostly unspecific dermatoscopic patterns. However, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, Kaposi's sarcoma, and to a lesser extent, cutaneous angiosarcoma, may display distinct dermatoscopic features for early clinical recognition. In conclusion, dermatoscopy, in conjunction with the overall clinical context, may aid suspicion of CS.

Summary: Eccrine poroma is a rare benign adnexal tumor that mainly affects elderly patients. Its pathogenesis is still being investigated and recent gene studies have identified gene fusions as key factors in the development of this tumor. It often presents as a solitary, firm papule on the soles or palms and is known for its clinical and dermoscopic variability. This literature review summarizes current knowledge on the pathogenesis, dermoscopic features, and diagnostic methods for early diagnosis and proper management of this rare tumor, as well as the possible associations between eccrine poroma and its malignant counterpart, eccrine porocarcinoma.
