Summary: This study aimed to explore the association between life quality based on the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) evaluation and disease severity among psoriasis patients in China. The study found that life quality based on DLQI evaluation was positively correlated with disease severity, especially among male patients and those with higher body mass index (BMI). Therefore, it is recommended that clinicians consider DLQI evaluation as an important indicator during patient treatment.

Summary: This study investigated the epidemiological situation of psoriasis in the Polish population by evaluating disease course and severity, management, comorbidities, environmental factors, and knowledge about the disorder among psoriatic patients. The results showed that psoriasis had a significant impact on the quality of life and was influenced by factors such as stress, infections, and seasonal changes. Psoriatic patients were also more likely to be smokers. Epidemiological studies can help improve understanding of the disease and patient compliance.

Summary: This study proposed a novel method for evaluating psoriasis, which improves the evaluation performance of various types of psoriasis, including multiple-severity diseases, by detecting representative regions and extracting severity features. The results showed that EfficientNet B1 with MS-DAM exhibited the best classification performance, with over 5% higher accuracy than six existing self-attention methods. Using the gradient-weighted activation mapping method, it was confirmed that the proposed method works at par with human visual perception.

Summary: Psoriasis is a systemic immune-mediated disease associated with increased risk of multiple comorbidities. With the introduction of biological agents, the efficacy and safety of psoriasis treatments have greatly improved. Different classes of drugs, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha inhibitors, interleukin-17 inhibitors, and small-molecule inhibitors, have been approved for the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis. These drugs not only target psoriasis but also have significant effects on its comorbidities. Understanding the characteristics of these drugs can provide personalized care for patients with distinct comorbidities.

Summary: This study used real-world data from COVID-19 patients in South Korea to investigate the impact of patient demographics and comorbidities on the infection rate and severity of COVID-19. The results showed that patients with certain diseases such as pulmonary disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease had a higher infection rate, while patients with hyperlipidemia, autoimmune disease, and cancer had a lower infection rate. Additionally, kidney disease, hypertension, and dementia were associated with the severity of COVID-19.

Summary: The study aimed to determine whether the commonly used thresholds to define moderate psoriasis (PASI of 10-12 and BSA of 10) are supported by patient-reported DLQI data. The results indicated that patients with PASI or BSA scores less than 10 can have major quality of life impairment.

Summary: This study examines the comorbidity profile of adult patients with psoriasis in Chile and its association with the severity of psoriasis. The results show that psoriasis patients in Chile have similar comorbidities as those in Western countries, including obesity, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, metabolic syndrome, and depression. The study emphasizes the importance of assessing patients with psoriasis for comorbid diseases in a multidisciplinary setting.

Summary: This study found a significant relationship between quality of life and illness perception in psoriasis patients. Positive impacts on quality of life included illness identity, consequences, emotional representations, time (cyclic), personal attributions, external attributions, and chance. Negative correlations were observed with treatment control and illness coherence, while a positive correlation was found with PASI scores, consequences, and emotional representation. Multiple regression analysis indicated that factors such as illness identity, PASI scores, treatment control, illness coherence, consequences, and personal attributions were significantly associated with quality of life.

Summary: Patients suffering from fibromyalgia often feel their testimonies are not taken seriously by healthcare professionals, resulting in epistemic injustice. This injustice is attributed to a gap between patients' lived experience of illness and professionals' conceptualization of illness, potentially harming patients' capacity as knowers. The dominant model of evidence-based practice in medicine may further devalue patients' stories, highlighting the need for more inclusive and patient-centered care approaches.

Summary: Welfare assessments are crucial in animal-based research, but accurately assessing suffering in laboratory animals is complex. This study used a bioinformatics approach to develop and validate composite measure schemes for evaluating distress in mice based on behavioral and biochemical parameters. The results showed that this approach has the potential to be used for severity assessment in adult and young mice.

Summary: This study aimed to develop an operational definition of 'Minimal Disease Activity (MDA)' for psoriasis. Through systematic reviews, panel discussions, and Delphi rounds involving dermatologists and patients, a consensus on MDA definition was reached. The final MDA definition includes absence of active arthritis plus specific criteria related to itching, scaling, redness, visibility, BSA, DLQI, and lesions in special locations, aiming to provide a measure of disease management.

Summary: Methotrexate is an important treatment for inflammatory rheumatic diseases, especially rheumatoid arthritis. Liver toxicity is a concern for long-term methotrexate therapy, particularly in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Understanding the mechanisms of hepatotoxicity and liver fibrosis is crucial for pretreatment screening and long-term monitoring in patients with chronic liver disease.

Summary: The relapses of psoriasis are related to T cells that reside in the skin, with the fatty acid intake capacity of tissue-resident memory T cells playing a crucial role in their function. The composition of fatty acids in the skin is linked to the functions of epidermal T cells and may affect the severity of psoriasis.

Summary: Human genomics has advanced rapidly, driving genome-wide association studies (GWASs). However, SNP-based GWASs are limited in capturing the polymorphism of HLA genes. This study evaluated the accuracy of using the 1000 Genomes data as a reference panel to impute HLA genotypes in admixed individuals and highlighted the importance of using genetically specific models for imputation.
