Summary: This paper studies the role of citation network measures in the assessment of scientific maturity, using the case of the Italian national scientific qualification. The results show that citation network measures are related to researchers' evaluation results and can improve predictive accuracy. Additionally, citation networks in specific sub-disciplines are more relevant than those in general disciplines. However, citation network measures cannot replace citation-based bibliometric indices.

Summary: Online and virtual teaching-learning has become a solution adopted by most educational institutions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this comprehensive bibliometric study of 9523 publications on virtual laboratories in higher education from 1991 to 2021, it was found that a majority of research work was published between 2011 and 2021, with the highest number of publications in 2020-2021, reflecting the impact of the pandemic. Top contributing institutions were from developed economies like Spain, Germany, and the United States. The citation impact was highest for publications with international co-authors, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration. Altmetrics related to virtual labs were also studied, showing a low correlation with citations but a linear growth in overall attention. The study highlights the potential role of virtual laboratories in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 - Quality Education.

Summary: This study evaluated the correlation between Altmetric Attention Score, absolute citation rate, and Relative Citation Ratio for articles published in obstetrics and gynecology journals from 2004 to 2019. The findings suggest that articles with higher Altmetric Attention Scores tend to have more engagement on social media and public platforms compared to those with higher citation rates. Further research is needed to determine the long-term correlation between alternative metrics and citation rates in obstetrics and gynecology.

Summary: Crossref is a digital object identifier registration agency that enables cross-publisher citation linking in online academic journals. Our study focuses on the coverage of Crossref in tracking literature in the arts and humanities, which often has a regional or national focus. The analysis reveals that Crossref indexes more sources than Scopus, particularly journals from Eastern and Southern Europe and the Global South. However, the level of metadata completion needs improvement, as not all journals deposit necessary information.
