Summary: Local land use policies play a crucial role in shaping urban sustainability, but achieving integrated land use at the local level is challenging due to coordination issues among semi-independent agencies. The study reveals that political institutions, city operation of utilities, elected officials support, and fiscal capacity all contribute to increased coordination among cities.

Summary: Social animals can improve decision-making by observing others, but must balance the benefits with the costs of obtaining and processing social information. Research suggests that animals may rely on simplified social information to influence their social behavior, and a hybrid strategy may provide an accurate approximation to the optimal decision-making policy. The evolutionary stability of different decision-making strategies varies depending on cognitive costs, with the hybrid strategy dominating when costs are low but non-zero.

Summary: In the book Making Sense of Security, J. Benton Heath argues that security should be seen as a struggle for epistemic authority. He provides a comprehensive typology to understand how people make sense of security and identifies the legal and political practices involved. However, these approaches to security are not stable but rather quantum states, where each type contains the potential for others.

Summary: In recent years, there has been significant attention on incel communities, which consist of individuals who are involuntarily celibate and dissatisfied with their experiences of romantic and sexual rejection. These communities attribute their grievances to women and the rejection of hegemonic masculinity in society. Previous research has produced conflicting results regarding the prevalence of autism in incel communities compared to the general population. However, there has been no exploration of the intersection between incels and autism from the perspective of incel community members. This study uses a critical autism lens to analyze 20 online incel message boards, aiming to understand the experiences of self-identified autistic incels. The findings reveal that incels employ internalized ableism of autism to justify their victimhood and entitlement, which forms the basis of their ideology. This weaponization of autism is then used to promote ableism and networked misogyny. The implications of these findings for understanding ableist and misogynistic beliefs associated with inceldom are discussed.

Summary: The development of non-invasive optical spectroscopy has led to the growth of prospective technologies for plant monitoring. These technologies, implemented in devices with different functions and hardware, increasingly utilize advanced data processing algorithms such as machine learning. Optical spectroscopy is widely used for plant tissue evaluation, crop diagnosis, and studying plant response to biotic and abiotic stress. It can also assist in non-invasive assessment of photosynthetic biofilms and the impact of plant species on biodiversity and ecosystem stability.

Summary: Research suggests that the memory of collective trauma influences attitudes towards contemporary social and political issues. Results from a study conducted in Germany and Israel show that attributing the Holocaust to certain causes can impact attitudes towards immigration and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Germans who attribute the Holocaust to German character tend to have positive attitudes towards immigration due to a sense of collective guilt, while Israelis who make the same attributions tend to have negative attitudes towards non-Jewish immigration, take a hawkish stance in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and support Israel due to a sense of perpetual victimization.

Summary: The article argues that a fuller understanding of Internally Displaced Person (IDP) subjectivities can be achieved by considering the rationalities organizing IDP survival. Based on a comparative analysis of IDPs from Crimea and Donbas, the article demonstrates that forced displacement is more diverse than previously believed. The article provides a framework for comparing IDP subjectivities and offers a new vocabulary for describing the strategic efforts forced migrants make to rebuild their lives.
