Summary: This work explores an eco-friendly approach to extracting cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) and refining cardanol from cashew nuts produced in Hainan, China. CNS, which is usually considered waste from agricultural processing, can be extracted into valuable CNSL using solvent extraction or supercritical CO2 extraction. The composition of extracted CNSL varies with different conditions, and less polar solvents extract more CNSL. Supercritical CO2 extraction also shows superior performance in CNSL extraction as an environmentally friendly method. CNSL from Hainan cashew nuts contains a high amount of anacardic acid. The extracted CNSL can be decarboxylated and separated to obtain a mixture of cardanol consisting of four olefins with different numbers of double bonds. Cardanol can be converted to saturated cardanol and high purity cardanol monoene through catalytic hydrogenation and catalytic transfer hydrogenation, respectively. Both saturated cardanol and cardanol monoene have promising prospects due to their chemical structure.

Summary: A novel diglycidyl ether (BCNDGE) derived from cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) was synthesized and used to formulate an epoxy resin. The curing behaviors and chemical structures of epoxy polymers were confirmed. The inclusion of BCNDGE enhanced the flexible nature of the polymer segments and improved the thermal stability of epoxy films.

Summary: This experimental research examines the performance of a diesel engine fueled with a biodiesel blend and hydrogen gas at different flow rates. The results show that a flow rate of 8 lpm of hydrogen gas combined with a B20 blend achieves the highest brake thermal efficiency and reduces the fuel consumption rate. Blending ethanol with the B20 blend further improves the engine's thermal efficiency.

Summary: This study investigated the characteristics of activated carbon from cashew nut shell produced by potassium hydroxide activation at 600 degrees C in an N2 atmosphere. The sample obtained with a CNS/KOH ratio of 1:1 had the highest surface area compared to other ratio samples. The effects of contact time, pH, adsorbent dose, and initial dye concentration on brilliant green (BG) removal efficiency were studied using the CNS/KOH ratio of 1:1 sample as the adsorbent. The Langmuir isotherm provided the best fit for the experimental equilibrium data, with a maximum BG adsorption capacity of 243.90 mg/g.

Summary: New hybrid catalysts based on molecularly dispersed nickel complexes on N-doped graphene were developed for electrochemical CO2 reduction (ECR). The nickel complexes with N-H groups showed current enhancement in the presence of CO2, while the absence of N-H groups resulted in no change. All three nickel complexes were successfully immobilized on nitrogen-doped graphene (NG) and exhibited satisfactory CO2-to-CO reduction. The N-H moiety from the ligand was found to be less important in the heterogeneous aqueous system.
