Summary: This study aimed to examine the association between multimorbidity and memory-related diseases (MDs) among Chinese middle-aged and older adults. The results showed that there is a relationship between multimorbidity and MDs, and this relationship gradually strengthens with the severity of multimorbidity. Therefore, early prevention for people with multimorbidity may reduce the risk of MDs.

Summary: This study assessed the prevalence and geographic variation of obesity-related hypertension among adults aged 45 years or older in China. The results showed a high prevalence of obesity-related hypertension, with 22.7% of the population affected, equivalent to 120 million people. The prevalence of obesity-related hypertension decreased from north to south and from east to west. Female gender, urban residence, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and hyperuricemia were positively correlated with obesity-related hypertension.

Summary: Objective: This study aimed to estimate the trends in pain prevalence and intensity among German middle-aged and older adults between 2008 and 2014. Methods: Data from two independent samples collected in different years were compared, and chi 2 tests and regression analyses were conducted. Results: The study found a statistically significant increase in the prevalence and intensity of pain among middle-aged and older German adults during the study period. Further research is needed to identify the factors contributing to this trend and develop interventions to address it.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the latent groups of multimorbidity trajectories among middle-aged and older adults and examine their associations with healthcare utilization and health expenditures. Three trajectory groups were identified, and all trajectory groups had a significantly increased risk of healthcare utilization and health expenditures. Notably, participants in the digestive-arthritic trajectory group had a significantly increased risk of incurring catastrophic health expenditures.

Summary: The role of income in individual health is not only directly effective but also derived from relative income levels within cohorts. This study constructs relative deprivation indicators to measure the relative income levels of rural households. Using data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, the study finds that deterioration in relative deprivation has significantly negative and persistent effects on the physical and mental health outcomes of rural middle-aged and older adults. Age and wealth differences, as well as local collective culture, play important roles in the impact of relative deprivation on individual health.

Summary: This study found that pulmonary function is associated with cognitive function in middle-aged and older adults, especially in males. Better pulmonary function at baseline is linked to less decline in cognition, highlighting the importance of early and long-term monitoring of pulmonary function.
