Summary: Examination of conscience is a contemplative practice that can enhance individuals' awareness and knowledge of their own memory processes. By using a digital application for this practice, participants reported a significant decrease in the properties of memory vividness and coherence after a two-week training period.

Summary: This study investigated the mental health status of medical students during the postgraduate entrance examination. The results showed that the proportion of students with mental health problems during the examination period was 12.10%, but it decreased to 4.40% in the 6-month follow-up after the examination. Somatization was the most significant symptom for students both during and after the examination. The study also found that all SCL-90 factors scored significantly lower compared to the 2008 national college student norm.

Summary: Grid cells in the entorhinal cortex exhibit spatial periodicity, but it is unclear whether there is periodicity on behaviorally relevant time scales in the human brain. This study investigated neuronal firing during continuous experiences in neurosurgical patients and found neurons that modulate their activity periodically across different time scales, primarily in the entorhinal cortex. These neurons remap their dominant periodicity to shorter time scales during a subsequent memory task. Some of these temporally periodic cells maintain their time scales when the video is presented at different speeds, indicating a degree of invariance. The temporal periodicity of these cells might complement the spatial periodicity of grid cells, providing scalable spatiotemporal metrics for human experience.

Summary: The study found that hippocampal and striatal neurons are able to gradually change their firing rates and transiently increase firing rates at specific time points, representing successive time points on the order of minutes during the process of animals learning a time-reward relationship. These minute-encoding patterns progressively develop and undergo flexible scaling in parallel with timing behavior.

Summary: Through questionnaires, it was found that self-recognition of voice disorder (SRVD) is closely related to mental health status, including psychological stress, depressive symptoms, and suicidal ideation. The study also revealed that long-term SRVD is associated with more pronounced psychological stress, depressive symptoms, and suicidal ideation. These findings highlight the significant connection between voice and emotions.

Summary: In recent years, there has been an exponential increase in data generated in the field of ART, with a diverse range from videos to tabular data. Artificial intelligence (AI) is progressively being used in medical practice, especially in fertility clinics, to potentially improve success rates. AI models are being developed to address the lack of objectivity in critical procedures, such as embryo and sperm assessments, but there are still challenges to overcome in order to fully utilize AI in ART.

Summary: This study investigated the utility of plasma arginase-1 for screening mental status in patients with chronic liver disease, finding that plasma arginase-1 was significantly and negatively associated with the mental status of the patients, especially somatic symptoms. Therefore, plasma arginase-1 may be a useful biomarker for assessing the mental status of outpatients with chronic liver disease.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether a chest-based accelerometer can remotely estimate 6MWT distance and compare the reproducibility of remote cardiac effort and 6MWT distance with clinic assessment. The results showed that the estimated 6MWT distance using MC10 was strongly correlated with the directly measured distance. Remote 6MWT distances were shorter than clinic distances, but there was no difference in cardiac effort between remote and clinic assessments.

Summary: There is a need to develop assessment instruments for screening mental health disorders in athletes. This study aimed to determine the reliability, validity, and clinical utility of the Mental Health Disorders Screening Instrument for Athletes (MHDSIA). Results showed that the MHDSIA is a reliable and valid tool for screening a broad spectrum of mental health disorders in college athletes. Different levels of severity were observed among different types of athletes and between genders.

Summary: Research has shown that intergenerational knowledge of one's family history is associated with positive mental health and wellbeing. Factors such as culture and gender play a critical role in how intergenerational storytelling is conducted and its association with wellbeing. These findings hold promise for the prevention and treatment of mental health issues.

Summary: The 15-minute city concept has been adopted by many cities worldwide to create compact and livable urban environments where residents can access essential urban functions within a 15-minute active travel radius. However, there is a lack of comprehensive measures and understanding of the 15-minute city status. This study proposes a 15-minute city index that incorporates accessibility to five categories of POI locations using the latest population census and POI data in Hong Kong.
