Summary: This paper develops and implements a procedure for calibrating image sensors and evaluating results in mobile devices. Two methods, an OpenCV function and a photogrammetry method using the same camera model, are used for calibration. A method using single-image rectification is proposed for evaluating the calibration results. A standard is proposed for the number and shooting angles of photographs used in the calibration. The procedure and software application are tested in a case study.

Summary: The study focuses on the analysis of pollutants in atmospheric aerosols, specifically trace elements and radionuclides, to assess air quality. Different types of atmospheric filters are used to examine the particulate matter (PM). The study aims to develop a new methodology to calibrate Ge detectors and accurately determine radionuclides in the PM through gamma-ray spectrometry. This methodology has been successfully validated for both natural and artificial radionuclides.

Summary: Three active detectors were characterized for their use in electronic BrachyTherapy dosimetry, with their responses to mono-energetic photons determined using Bayesian parameter estimation. The detectors showed consistent energy responses with uncertainties, and their relative behavior was similar despite differences in magnitude due to their sizes and active volumes.

Summary: The authors constructed a prototype of a single-gap glass Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) and simulated the flow of Argon gas through the detector using computational fluid dynamic methods to find better operation requirements for the detector's gas system. The simulations showed a linear relationship between the pressure inside the chamber and the gas flow rate and output hose length. The difference in gas molecule speeds between the inlet and outlet regions and blocked corners of a 14 x 14 cm(2) chamber was found to be two orders of magnitude, suggesting the difference is likely greater for larger detectors and different geometries.

Summary: This study evaluated the prognostic impact of the LabBM score in NSCLC patients receiving palliative thoracic radiation or chemoradiation. The LabBM score, as well as hospitalization, concomitant chemoradiotherapy, and individual blood tests (hemoglobin, LDH), were found to be important predictors of survival. The LabBM score has potential in predicting survival in patients with non-metastatic cancer, such as NSCLC stage II and III.
