The intensification of grain production in the North Central Region of the United States has affected the quality of both surface and ground water resources in the region and also contributed to hypoxia in the Gulf of Mexico. This study revealed a lack of suitable educational programs to assist extension educators in understanding water quality issues. The purpose of this study was to identify the perceptions of extension educators in the North Central Region regarding water quality issues and subsequently to develop a teaching-learning model for educational programs focused on water quality in the area.
