Summary: Electrospun polycaprolactone (PCL) scaffolds are widely used in tissue engineering applications for their superior biomechanical properties and cell matrix compatibility, with properties depending on electrospinning parameters. This study successfully estimated the properties of PCL scaffolds using artificial neural networks (ANN) technique with high learning precision. The precise predictions demonstrated the model's ability to adequately estimate the relationships between electrospinning parameters and properties of PCL scaffolds.

Summary: The study examines the effects of trajectory on low-carbon steel samples produced by the wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technique. The results show that the grain size of the WAAM samples ranges from 7 to 12, with strategy 3 (spiral trajectory) having the smallest grain size and strategy 2 (lean zigzag trajectory) having the largest. Differences in heat input and output during the printing process contribute to the variations in grain size. The WAAM samples demonstrate significantly higher ultimate tensile strength (UTS) values compared to the original wire, with strategy 3 achieving the highest UTS value of 616.5 MPa, 24% higher than the original wire. The WAAM samples also have higher elongation values and exhibit ductile fracture surfaces with dimples.

Summary: In recent years, there has been a focus on recycling by-products of the paper industry for construction purposes. This study used waste newspaper instead of waste paper sludge ash, which has high energy consumption and contributes to air pollution. By integrating waste newspaper in cement mortar, improvements were observed in the compressive strength, tensile strength, and carbonation resistance of the mortar. The ideal amount of waste newspaper as a cement substitute was found to be 0.6% in terms of mechanical properties and durability characteristics.

Summary: Thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV) / brandonite (BR) blends were prepared with different ratios of N-339(HAF): N-660(SRF) carbon black fillers. The mechanical properties of pure rubber mixture and samples loaded with varying percentages of carbon black were tested, and the 80TPV:20BR blend showed the highest values for durability and elongation at break. The changes in the mechanical properties of the blends were correlated to the morphology observed by SEM. The electrical resistance of the rubber blends also changed during compression.

Summary: This study explores the relationship between the biophysical structure and function of modern suture materials, focusing on their ability to withstand surgical stress and how material properties affect knot stability. Different knot types have varied effects on the suture materials themselves.

Summary: This study comprehensively characterizes the fracture and tensile behavior of unidirectional PLA parts manufactured by MEX. The effect of crack tip to filament orientation angle on fracture behavior was investigated through three-point bending tests on SENB specimens printed at different build angles. Tensile tests on dogbone specimens were also conducted to measure the elastic properties and ultimate strength distribution. SEM was used to observe the printed mesostructures and fracture surfaces, and DSC was used to evaluate the level of crystallinity in the printed structures. The resulting data allows the development of fracture models for MEX fabricated parts.

Summary: This paper presents a comprehensive experimental study on the behavior and basic material properties of semi-interlocking mortarless masonry. The experiments included testing of ungrouted masonry units, prisms, and wallets, as well as grouted cores. The results provide valuable information for understanding the behavior of semi-interlocking mortarless masonry and for developing material models for future research.

Summary: This study predicts the tensile strength of polymer concrete composites using a deep neural network method. A database with 9 variables and 281 experimental data is prepared, and the model performance is evaluated using statistical criteria. The sensitivity of each input variable on the tensile strength is explored through a partial dependence plot analysis.

Summary: A novel modification method for CaCO3 nanoparticles using SAPE was introduced, with discussions on the mechanism of modified nanoparticles. The optimal activation degree and oil absorption of the CaCO3/SAPE composite nanoparticles were achieved with a specific amount of AA. Scanning electron microscopy showed that the SAPE-modified CaCO3 nanoparticles could be evenly dispersed in PP film, forming a closed integration for improved mechanical properties.

Summary: The sequential combination of torrefaction and alkaline treatment can enhance the wet strength of torrefied cellulosic paper and promote bioethanol production. Torrefaction at different temperatures significantly improved the wet-tensile strength of cellulose filter paper. Glucose yield decreased with increased torrefaction severity, but increased after alkaline treatment.

Summary: This study investigated the recycling of agro-industrial waste materials such as sugarcane bagasse ash and rice husk ash as partial replacements for cement in concrete production. It was found that the strength performance of concrete decreased when using these materials individually or in combination, but they could still be suitable for structural applications at certain replacement levels.

Summary: The study compared the effects of different disinfection methods on the properties of silicone impressions and conducted statistical comparisons of material properties. Results showed that addition silicones outperformed condensation silicones in terms of performance. Both traditional and alternative disinfection methods had minimal impact on tensile properties and dimensional stability of the silicones.
