Summary: To solve problems caused by oily wastewater, a CO2-responsive O/W microemulsion wellbore cleaning fluid was prepared using N,N-dimethylcyclohexylamine (DMCHA) as the oil phase. The microemulsion had a water content of 89.99% and exhibited good stability at different temperatures. Injecting CO2 demulsified the emulsion, which could be restored by removing CO2 with N2, demonstrating the CO2/N2 switching properties. The switching microemulsion effectively cleaned steel and quartz sheets contaminated by oil-based slurry and simulated wellbores, with a cleaning efficiency above 99%. CO2 could be used to separate oil and water from cleaned oily wastewater at room temperature.

Summary: Recent studies have demonstrated that the rheological properties of systems formed by the self-assembly of long tail sugar-based surfactants into worm-like micelles can be tuned by subtle modifications of the surfactant monomer's molecular characteristics. The anomeric configuration of the surfactant was found to induce significant changes in nanostructure and rheology, with shear-thinning behavior relating to the re-arrangement of worm-like micelles. These findings provide a detailed mechanism by which sugar-based surfactants control the rheology of the fluid, offering potential for future studies in this area.

Summary: Sugar-based amphiphiles are a natural alternative to synthetic ones with biodegradable properties. An investigation of their structure-assembly relationship was conducted using various techniques in aqueous media. The results showed that the average degree of polymerization (DP) and the addition of a hydroxyl group to the hydrophobic tail affected their self-assembly. The critical micelle concentration was more influenced by changes in the hydrophobic molecular region than by variations in (DP) over bar. Amphiphiles with high (DP) over bar formed spherical micelles regardless of the presence of a hydroxyl group, while those with low (DP) over bar and only one hydrophilic moiety formed cylindrical micelles, and the addition of a hydroxyl group to the tail resulted in a spherical shape.

Summary: Nanofluids have gained attention for their potential applications in engineering fields. This study investigates the stability of Ti- and Al-oxide nanoparticle suspensions under different surfactants, showing that the stability varies with surfactant type. Results suggest that TiO2 nanofluids exhibit good stability, while Al2O3 nanofluids do not under certain surfactants.

Summary: The study demonstrates that key design parameters have a significant impact on the performance of Synergetic Air-Breathing Rocket Engine. Helium flowrate, distribution ratio, and helium inlet temperature should be designed as small as possible, while an increase in combustion chamber pressure can improve specific thrust but decrease total engine efficiency, requiring a compromised design to balance the impact of various parameters.

Summary: Modified uncrosslinked and crosslinked chitosan derivatives were investigated as green sorbents for copper (Cu2+) and lead (Pb2+) cation removal. The adsorption capacities of the chitosan-modified products were compared, and Cs/GA/MBA exhibited the highest adsorption capacity due to stable chelate structures formed. The metal uptake process was confirmed by comparing the surface topography of the free sorbents and the metal-loaded sorbents using atomic force microscopy (AFM).

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption performance of some chitosan-modified products on the removal of Methylene Blue dye. The modified chitosan derivatives showed outstanding mechanical qualities, reusability, and adsorption capacity. The adsorption abilities of the derivatives were ranked as follows: N,O-carboxymethyl chitosan < chitosan grafted with glutaraldehyde < chitosan cross-linked with glutaraldehyde/epichlorohydrin < chitosan cross-linked with glutaraldehyde/methylene bis(acrylamide). The swelling performance of the sorbents was verified under different conditions and the derivatives showed good reusability throughout multiple cycles.
