Summary: This study investigates boron clusters of the PrBn series in both neutral and anionic states using CALYPSO structure predictions and DFT calculations. The results show that the medium-size Pr-doped boron clusters have a half-sandwich geometrical topology, contrary to TM-doped boron clusters. The stability of PrBn clusters is attributed to the interactions between Pr 5d and B 2p orbitals. Furthermore, a tubular-shaped PrB30 cluster is proposed as a promising building block for boron-based nanotubes.

Summary: This study examines the composition, thermal stability, crystal structure, and flux crystallization features of double molybdates of alkali metals with zirconium or hafnium. The results indicate that alkaline polymolybdates are optimal fluxes for crystallization of the double molybdates, and suggest that the ionic conductivity of these polymolybdates is due to the transfer of oxide ions. Additionally, measurements of electrical conductivity show that the highest values are achieved for Cs2Mo2O7, with a sigma value of 1.2.10(-4) S/cm at 460 degrees C.

Summary: Mixed orthovanadates Bi1-xPrxVO4 were synthesized and studied for their photocatalytic activity in safranin T degradation in aqueous solutions under visible irradiation. The materials with 4% praseodymium and monoclinic structure exhibit the highest activity due to the inhibitory effect on charge carrier recombination at the interfacial heterojunction.

Summary: Thulium-doped magnesium molybdate single-crystal (Tm3+:MgMoO4) with a Tm3+ doping level of 0.1 at.% was grown using the Czochralski method. The crystal belongs to the monoclinic class and has a thermal expansion tensor and thermal conductivity of 2.64 Wm- 1K-1. The optical spectroscopy of Tm3+ ions reveals broad emission bands and a long excited-state lifetime, making Tm:MgMoO4 a promising material for tunable and mode-locked lasers, pending the solution to the technological challenge of fabricating crystals with higher Tm3+ concentrations.

Summary: The composition-structure relationship of blocklike ferrospheres isolated from fly ash produced during the combustion of different types of coal was systematically studied. It was found that monoblock globules consist of large sintered crystallites of Mg, Mn ferrospinel, formed from excluded siderite particles containing isomorphic impurities of magnesium and manganese carbonates. SEM analysis showed that as the FeO concentration in individual globules decreases, the crystallite size of ferrospinel decreases, while the content of the glass phase increases.

Summary: The study found that coals from Shivee-Ovoo and Ulaan-Ovoo deposits are suitable raw materials for obtaining humic acids. Humic acids extracted from Shivee-Ovoo coal have much higher yield and water solubility compared to those from Ulaan-Ovoo coal, attributed to the former's highly oxidized nature. Additionally, the organic compounds in humic acids from both coals consist mainly of aliphatic and aromatic compounds, with carboxylic (-COOH), carbonyl (>CO), hydroxyl (-OH) and etheric (-O-) groups, characteristic of highly oxidized organic matter.
