Crystals of binary praseodymium and hafnium molybdate of Pr2Hf3(MoO4)(9) composition are grown by solution-melt crystallization under spontaneous nucleation conditions. By the X-ray diffraction data (X8 Apex automated diffractometer, MoK alpha radiation, 2262 F(hkl), R = 0.0170) its composition and crystal structure are determined. Parameters of the trigonal unit cell are: a = b = 9.8001(1) angstrom, c = 58.7095(8) angstrom, V = 4883.15(10) angstrom(3), Z = 6, space group R (3) over barc. The crystal structure is composed of three types of polyhedra: MoO4 tetrahedra, HfO6 octahedra, and nine-vertex PrO9. All three types of polyhedra are bonded among themselves by common oxygen vertices of bridging MoO4 tetrahedra forming an openwork three-dimensional structure.

Victoria G. Grossman, Maxim S. Molokeev, Bair G. Bazarov, Jibzema G. Bazarova

Summary: New triple molybdates M5CrHf(MoO4)6 (M = K, Tl) and TlCrHf0.5(MoO4)3 were discovered in the ternary molybdate systems M2MoO4-Cr2(MoO4)3-Hf(MoO4)2 (M = K, Tl) in the subsolidus region. The crystal structures were refined and their thermal stability and electrical conductivity were investigated, showing high values for the former and relatively low values for the latter.

Composition-Structure Relationship and Routes of Formation of Blocklike Ferrospheres Produced by Pulverized Combustion of Two Coal Types

Natalia N. Anshits, Elena Fomenko, Alexander G. Anshits

Summary: The composition-structure relationship of blocklike ferrospheres isolated from fly ash produced during the combustion of different types of coal was systematically studied. It was found that monoblock globules consist of large sintered crystallites of Mg, Mn ferrospinel, formed from excluded siderite particles containing isomorphic impurities of magnesium and manganese carbonates. SEM analysis showed that as the FeO concentration in individual globules decreases, the crystallite size of ferrospinel decreases, while the content of the glass phase increases.

Interactions in ternary bismuth-containing molybdate systems M2MoO4-Bi2(MoO4)3-Zr(MoO4)2 in the subsolidus region

Jibzema G. Bazarova, Alexandra Logvinova, Bair G. Bazarov

Summary: A fundamental issue in materials science is establishing the relationship between the chemical composition, structure, and properties of materials, which can be addressed through the study of complex oxide compounds and directed synthesis of promising compounds. This study investigated the ternary salt system Rb2MoO4-Bi-2(MoO4)(3)-Zr(MoO4)(2) for the first time, forming novel ternary molybdates through ceramic technology.

Victoria G. Grossman, Maxim S. Molokeev, Jibzema G. Bazarova, Bair G. Bazarov, Nikolay Sorokin

Summary: Thallium scandium hafnium molybdate and thallium scandium zirconium molybdate crystallize in trigonal symmetry with the space group R (3) over barc. The crystal structures were obtained by Rietveld method, and the ionic conductivities were measured at different temperatures. The results showed that the molybdates have different ionic conductivities at 773K, with activation energies of 0.8 eV and 0.3 eV respectively.

Investigation on Humic Acids of the Shivee-Ovoo and Ulaan-Ovoo Coal in Mongolia

B. Purevsuren, A. Ankhtuya, J. G. Bazarova, B. G. Bazarov, S. Zherebtsov, K. S. Votolin

Summary: The study found that coals from Shivee-Ovoo and Ulaan-Ovoo deposits are suitable raw materials for obtaining humic acids. Humic acids extracted from Shivee-Ovoo coal have much higher yield and water solubility compared to those from Ulaan-Ovoo coal, attributed to the former's highly oxidized nature. Additionally, the organic compounds in humic acids from both coals consist mainly of aliphatic and aromatic compounds, with carboxylic (-COOH), carbonyl (>CO), hydroxyl (-OH) and etheric (-O-) groups, characteristic of highly oxidized organic matter.
