Summary: This research aims to analyze the anxiety level and precompetitive self-confidence of tennis and padel players and examine the influence of gender and competitive level in each sport. The findings indicate that padel players have higher self-confidence compared to tennis players, and female tennis players have higher precompetitive anxiety levels than male players, whereas the opposite is observed in padel. U14 players demonstrate the highest self-confidence and lowest precompetitive anxiety levels. Overall, this study highlights the importance of precompetitive anxiety as a key psychological variable in relation to sport performance, which can vary based on gender and competitive level.

Summary: This research examines the interplay between the mental health and mental performance of Canadian national team athletes during the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings suggest that factors such as social and environmental restrictions, psychological challenges, and public health measures have impacted athlete mental health. However, athletes with prior good mental performance skills were found to be more equipped to cope with these challenges, leading to better mental health outcomes. The pandemic also provided an opportunity for athletes to take a break from training and competition, allowing them to rest and enjoy life outside of sport. The study highlights the need for more mental health resources and better access to practitioners supporting mental performance and mental health in the Canadian sport system.

Summary: The intensity of culture shock when an individual moves from one environment to another depends on the cultural differences, individual's experience and multi-cultural skills, and the locals' behavior. Individuals who move to another new environment may suffer culture shock again, but experience can help them manage new situations. Culture shock has different stages and duration, and interestingly, individuals may suffer reverse culture shock when they return to their home environment. Adapting to a new cultural context involves overcoming culture shock and it influences the psyche of individuals.

Summary: This study aimed to qualitatively explore factors influencing young women and girls' participation in exercise, finding disparities in perceptions between participants and providers, particularly at the intrapersonal and interpersonal levels. Both agreed that schools offer opportunities but also barriers, with urbanization, safety, culture, and social media being main environmental themes. Aligning needs and expectations at these levels is crucial for providing engaging physical activity and sustainable exercise for this demographic.

Summary: This scoping review examines the relationship between lower limb biomechanics, asymmetry, and introspective psychological state in healthy competitive athletes. The results indicate that self-reported pain is negatively correlated with range of motion, strength, and lower limb asymmetry. Higher ratings of perceived exertion are associated with increased lower limb asymmetry, muscle soreness, and worse jump performance. The need for longitudinal research and the use of a biopsychosocial model in understanding sport performance and injury risk is emphasized.

Summary: The study aims to quantify the literature on motivation states, determine the topical areas represented in investigations of clinical and healthy populations, and discover pertinent details. It will include studies specifically measuring or addressing motivation states for movement and exclude those referring to motivation as a trait. The primary outcome will be the extent of the literature on the topic, which will be stratified by population/condition to better understand motivation for bodily movement and exercise.

Summary: Motivation for physical activity and sedentary behaviors varies and can be affectively-charged. This study utilized a mixed-methods approach to examine the postulates of the WANT model. The results showed that people experience desires to move and rest, and these motivation states fluctuate significantly, especially in the context of stress, boredom, satiety, and deprivation. The findings largely supported the postulates of the WANT model.

Summary: This research found that during quarantine, stress, depression, and state anxiety levels are influenced by various factors such as gender, nutritional quality, participation in tele-psychotherapy, exercise frequency, living with elderly individuals, obligation to work outside the home, education level, and age. Vulnerability to mental health issues may be linked to specific demographic attributes, obligations, and health behaviors, which can help identify and prioritize individuals who may need psychological assistance during quarantine.
