Summary: Based on a meta-analysis of 49 primary studies involving 62,057 participants, this study confirms the significantly positive impact of coopetition on organizational performance. Coopetition is particularly beneficial to financial, market, and innovation performance. The relationship between coopetition and performance is contingent on factors such as national culture, industry type, coopetition structure, and research methodology. This study resolves the inconsistent findings in the coopetition literature and highlights the fundamental significance of contingent factors.

Summary: This study investigates the role of business accelerators in supporting startups to forge relationships with other startups and overcome early-stage needs. Through in-depth qualitative research on 23 startups within six accelerators in Germany, the study reveals that accelerators play a crucial role in driving coopetition (cooperative and competitive) behavior among startups through available tools such as events, communication, and coworking spaces. The research contributes to the literature on business accelerators and coopetition and offers implications for startups, accelerators, and policymakers.

Summary: The benefits and limitations of using collaborative and competitive activities for learning are well known, but a new approach called "coopetition" combines the strengths of both approaches to enhance student learning. However, there is limited research on coopetition in learning environments. This article reviews existing studies on coopetition and identifies three categories of research topics: organization of coopetition, medium and coopetition, and application of coopetition in education. The review provides implications for future educational research and practice.

Summary: Firms are increasingly forming alliances with competitors for cooperative innovation activities. These alliances not only provide general benefits, but also promote communication and learning with competitors. However, competition within these alliances also poses challenges for member firms. This study investigates the benefits and costs of competition for firm innovation in cooperative R&D consortia and identifies the boundary conditions to amplify the advantages of competition.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between contract length and buyer satisfaction with the supplier in the contexts of cooperation, competition, and coopetition. The findings suggest that short-term contracts have a negative effect on buyer satisfaction, and this effect is moderated by supplier cooperation and competition. However, when the level of supplier coopetition increases, the negative effect of short-term contracts on buyer satisfaction becomes stronger.

Summary: This article provides an overview of the current status and dynamics of research on coopetition by using a combination of literature review, bibliometric analysis, and content analysis. The study examines a sample of 489 studies from 2010 to 2020 and identifies influential authors and articles based on publications and citations. Cluster analysis is also conducted to identify key research themes, and potential future research directions are suggested.

Summary: This paper explores the relationship between joint value creation and coopetition intensity, finding that high intensity of cooperation combined with high intensity of competition is crucial for joint value creation. Different types of coopetition engagements lead to different outcomes in joint value creation, while unbalanced or low intensities fail to achieve joint value creation.

Summary: This article examines the role of a firm's strategic mindset, particularly its long-term orientation, in coopetition. The results show that a firm's long-term orientation is positively related to competition intensity within alliances and the propensity to engage in coopetitive activities, but not significantly related to cooperation intensity within coopetitive setups.

Summary: Researchers have gained momentum in the field of coopetition, with more high-quality studies published in the past five years than in the entire history of coopetition research. By systematically reviewing and connecting recent articles with prior studies, they have structured and identified emerging themes for the future of coopetition research, providing a comprehensive, unique, and updated perspective on the field. The study also outlines crucial interdependencies and suggests potential areas for future research.

Summary: This article examines the competition between two information technology vendor firms for the outsourcing requirements of a client firm, taking into account the vendors' cost structures, learning-by-doing, and process improvement. The findings suggest that the client firm may adopt different outsourcing strategies depending on the learning efficiency of the vendor base, and that high heterogeneity in vendor cost structure can impact the client firm's outsourcing requirements.

Summary: This article explores the phenomenon of concurrent competition and cooperation, focusing on independent creative workers. By studying 80 New Orleans street performers, the researchers extend the theory of coopetition to the individual level. They propose that the nature of the creative industries encourages a trailblazing mindset that deviates from tradition, while the accumulation of creative practices fosters a torchbearing mindset that values tradition. Cooperation is fostered by the torchbearing mindset, while competition is fostered by the trailblazing mindset.

Summary: This paper introduces a network diffusion model called multi-feature diffusion (MFD) and incorporates cooperation and competition into it, resulting in the cooperation and competition coupled diffusion of multi-feature on multiplex network (CCMF) model. The paper presents a unified framework and mathematical analytic theory for CCMF, applicable to any number of features and their different sub-diffusion dynamics. It also proposes an optimal allocation strategy for controlling network diffusion in CCMF, which achieves simultaneous promotion and suppression of network diffusion under one optimization framework.

Summary: The use of algorithmic control (AC) in combination with independent work raises questions about gig workers' perceptions of AC practices and their legitimacy judgements. This study finds that micro-level legitimacy judgements play a central role in mediating the relationships between gig workers' perceptions of different AC forms and their behavioral reactions.

Summary: This study explores the signaling role of perceived input control in shaping prospective complementors' decision to join a digital platform. The results suggest that perceived input control has distinct and complex signaling effects, with both performance expectancy and effort expectancy being influenced by it. Additionally, the study finds that intention to join the platform is linearly influenced by performance expectancy and inversely influenced by effort expectancy. Overall, the study provides novel insights into the role of perceived input control in the decision-making process of joining a digital platform.

Summary: This study explores the impact of IS project uncertainty on senior IS managers' control-style choices and their influence on process and product performance. The results show that uncertainty increases the use of authoritative control style but has no effect on enabling control style. Authoritative style is effective for process performance, while enabling style is effective for product performance. Simultaneously using both control styles under uncertainty does not bring noticeable benefits, indicating a decision-related control dilemma.

Summary: With the rise of the Industrial Internet of Things, manufacturing firms are increasingly adopting non-ownership business models (NOBMs) where providers maintain ownership of machinery and sell machine use and performance as a service. While NOBMs offer new business opportunities related to client-side uncertainties, they also introduce provider-side uncertainties. A multiple-case study reveals diverse NOBM designs, with some focusing on exploiting client-side uncertainties while others prioritize mitigating provider-side uncertainties. The study also identifies machine attributes and market attributes as contextual factors that influence NOBM designs.
