Summary: The aim of this paper is to conduct an econometric panel data analysis on economic complexity using annual data from 133 countries from 1984 to 2018. The study acknowledges the impact of spatial heterogeneity and discontinuity on economic complexity, and emphasizes the importance of supranational analysis and economic policy. The findings demonstrate that variables such as GDP per capita and economic vulnerability have a strong impact on a country's economic complexity, while human capital and innovation rate are less significant. The potential of natural resources appears to be negatively correlated with economic complexity.

Summary: New approaches, such as Participatory Action Research (PAR), are necessary for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). PAR involves scientists and stakeholders in a systematic engagement process, expanding on the scientific process. In this study, two decades of PAR in rural communities in Malawi are examined to demonstrate iterative co-learning cycles. The findings highlight the importance of agricultural diversity beyond agroforestry, the value of intermediate growth habits, and the role of PAR in meeting local needs and addressing SDGs.

Summary: This paper explores the impact and mechanism analysis of government sports public expenditure on regional sustainable development from the perspective of sports economic development. The study found that the government's increase in public expenditure on sports can significantly promote regional sustainable development and improve the level of regional green and coordinated development. Additionally, the development level of market finance is also an important driving factor for the government's public expenditure on sports to improve the level of sustainable development in the region.

Summary: As a vital life form in the biosphere, cyanobacteria have been the subject of significant research growth. Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) play a crucial role in biological functions, regulating proteins and forming functional complexes. However, PPI studies in cyanobacteria lag behind those in mammals and lack integration. To address this, we developed CyanoMapDB, a database that provides experimental evidence of cyanobacterial PPIs. It includes 52,304 PPIs among 6,789 proteins from 23 cyanobacterial species, collected from UniProt, STRING, IntAct, and co-fractionation MS data. CyanoMapDB allows users to easily query proteins, explore interacting proteins from various sources, and visualize protein networks. It is expected to advance research in cyanobacteria and plants.

Summary: Current research on sport sponsorship has focused mainly on narrow strategic goals that organizations aim to achieve through sponsorship actions, with little attention paid to the potential of sponsorship for broader strategic aims. Efficiently resourced sponsorships can create a lasting competitive advantage in the market and contribute to higher performance in product markets.

Summary: This study evaluates the impact of natural resource rent (NTR), fiscal decentralization (FSD), and trade diversification (TDF) on the sustainable development of G-7 countries from 1995 to 2020. The results suggest that FSD and TDF have a negative impact on reducing ecological footprint, while NTR and GDP have a positive impact. The study provides policy recommendations to enhance environmental sustainability through FSD and TDF.

Summary: This article proposes a combinatorial model of economic development, which indicates that economies develop by acquiring new capabilities to produce a greater variety of products. Additionally, it shows that the pattern of variety first increasing and then decreasing during economic development is consistent with the empirical pattern known as 'the hump'. The authors question the common association of variety with complexity.

Summary: This paper evaluates the measures implemented within the Rural Development Program (RDP) 2007-2013 in Poland, focusing on diversification of business activities in rural areas and improving the multifunctionality of rural areas. The study analyzes the impact of EU funds on the development of non-agricultural activities and finds that beneficiaries' engagement in ventures is influenced by local potential, culture, tradition, and farm size. The attractiveness of the RDP measures varies across regions, with beneficiaries in agriculture-rooted areas more likely to tap into farm resources for additional livelihood.

Summary: The paper argues that decision makers have a natural preference for diversification, with willingness to pay for it driven by risk aversion and loss aversion. In an experiment, the estimated value of diversification is around 5% of the initial amount, and risk-averse individuals are willing to pay more for diversification. These findings suggest that diversification is a fundamental preference that may help explain anomalies in portfolio choice.

Summary: This study examined the sport participation patterns of 546 male youth team sport players through a retrospective questionnaire. The findings showed that all participants started involvement in sports at a similar age and participated in a similar number of sports during their early years. However, there were differences in the types of sports and the ages at which they started participating. The study provides empirical evidence for understanding the effects of different sporting pathways on long-term athlete development.

Summary: Sport engagement, including tennis, has a positive influence on cognition in children. However, age and maturation have a stronger association with cognition in youth athletes. The study found that age and maturation, rather than tennis experience, are related to cognitive performance. The positive relations of tennis experience to cognitive performance are stronger in younger participants, specifically those younger than 12 years old.

Summary: This study evaluated player behaviour and performance in a professional Australian Football club across different playing conditions. The findings showed minimal changes in integrative measures, suggesting the need for larger changes in control parameters. Individual level behaviours varied across conditions, with AFL matches exhibiting the lowest kicks and marks per minute but the highest rate of tackles. The study highlights the importance of measuring the stability of individual and integrative behaviours and how changes to constraints can impact these metrics.
