Summary: This study explores the application of concentrated imidazolium-based ionic liquids (IL) electrolyte in lithium sulfur (Li-S) batteries. By increasing the salt concentration, the dissolution of lithium polysulfides (LPS) from the sulfur cathode is effectively suppressed, and the stability of the lithium anode is improved. The Li-S battery in the concentrated electrolyte exhibits good cycling stability and high capacity retention.

Summary: Industrial exhaust gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), have a significant impact on the environment. Capturing and storing CO2 in industrial processes is increasingly important. Porous materials show promise in gas separation, but modeling their adsorption behavior and calculating selectivities can be challenging.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of PAA on viscosity by measuring the viscosity of VOSO4 + PAA + H2O ternary solution under different conditions. Various thermodynamic parameters of the PAA aqueous solution were calculated, and prediction equations based on the Eyring's theory were established to predict the viscosity of the ternary solution. The average relative deviation of 0.74% between predicted and experimental values suggests the potential use of the prediction function for the studied ternary solution.

Summary: Solutions are important components of natural and technological systems. We argue that in addition to the classical hypotheses of ideality and diluteness, solutions must also be incompressible and have small volumetric fractions of solutes. We propose the name "ideal-dilute-incompressible solutions" for this new cornerstone of solution theory.

Summary: Pressure-driven membrane processes like reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration (NF) are efficient solutions for salinity reduction, but NF applications still lack predictive projection tools. NF membranes are heavily influenced by feed-solution composition, with concentration polarisation affecting species transport and membrane scaling.

Summary: In this paper, a simplified chemo-hydro-mechanics (CHM) model is proposed to reflect the viscoelastic deformation of clay soil. The responses of pore-fluid pressure, solute concentration, and displacement are derived and solutions are obtained numerically. The influences of viscosity on these parameters are investigated and the results show that viscosity affects pore-fluid pressure and displacement, but has little impact on solute concentration distribution.

Summary: Dielectric Relaxation Spectroscopy (DRS) measures the number of irrotationally bound water molecules to electrolytes, similar to the hydration number in Zavitsas' model. The present study uses DRS data to replace the hydration number in Zavitsas' model and optimizes the extent of dissociation of NaF to fit water activity data. The results show that DRS can be used to parameterize Zavitsas' model.

Summary: This study finds that the influence of increased viscosity on the performance of symmetric carbon/carbon electrochemical capacitors is complex and depends significantly on the texture/structure properties of carbon electrodes. However, the application of viscous electrolytes can be beneficial in terms of reducing leakage current and internal gas evolution. Furthermore, it is possible to retain high power and energy performance even with a 104-fold increase in viscosity for devices with well-designed micro-/mesoporous interconnectivity in carbon materials.

Summary: Numerous physical processes, including surface water and groundwater conversion, volcanic eruptions, and underground mining, are responsible for mass exchange between the Earth's surface and interior. These mass transport phenomena significantly influence the deformation of the Earth's crust. In this study, we analyze the extent of crustal deformation by obtaining Green's functions due to internal mass loading in a layered elastic spherical earth model. The displacement and gravity change show significant differences between surface source and internal source within a specific horizontal range multiple times the source depth. Horizontal displacement is more sensitive to source depth. Additionally, we have published the code for calculating Green's function for internal mass loading on GitHub.

Summary: In this work, the authors proved that physically realizable weak solutions of the incompressible two-dimensional Euler equations on a torus conserve kinetic energy. Physically realizable weak solutions refer to solutions that can be obtained as limits of vanishing viscosity. The authors extended the previous research by adding forcing to the flow.

Summary: This study measured the density, speed of sound, and viscosity of aqueous solutions of the anti-histaminic drug diphenhydramine hydrochloride with different electrolytes. The effects of drug concentration and temperature on the interactional behavior of the system were analyzed, showing the role of specific and non-specific interactions between the drug and electrolytes in solution stabilization. The results were used to elucidate solute/solvent-solvent/solute interactions in aqueous electrolytic solutions.

Summary: The study focused on the salt effect on the vapor-liquid phase equilibrium of solvent mixtures for the industrial production of 1,3,5-trioxane. The extended UNIFAC model was used to describe the VLE of salt-containing reactive mixtures and predict the VLE of various systems. The predicted results showed good agreements with the measured results, revealing the salt effect on the VLE of these multisolvent reactive systems.
