Summary: In this study, two eco-friendly thiadiazole derivatives, 5-amino-1,2,3-thiadiazole (AT) and N-phenyl-N-1,2,3thiadiazol-5-yluree (thidiazuron, TDZ), were used to mitigate the corrosion of mild steel in hydrochloric acid medium. Electrochemical tests showed that TDZ had a much better inhibitive effect compared to AT, with an inhibition efficiency of 98.95% at a concentration of 0.6 mM. The introduction of a phenyl ring side chain in the TDZ molecule provided more adsorption sites, allowing for strong absorption of TDZ by forming bonds with the steel surface through the oxygen atom and phenyl ring. DFT-based first-principles calculations revealed that both AT and TDZ could adsorb on the steel surface through various types of bonds, including Fe-S, Fe-N, Fe-O, and Fe-C bonds.

Summary: The inhibition potency of thiamine (VB1), nicotinic acid (VB3), pyridoxine (VB6), and ascorbic acid (VC) against reinforcement corrosion in chloride environments was studied. Quantum chemical calculation was used to reveal the corrosion inhibition mechanism. The results showed that all four vitamins could effectively reduce the risk of chloride-induced reinforcement corrosion, with VB6 exhibiting the strongest corrosion inhibition effect. Each vitamin had a specific concentration for achieving optimum corrosion inhibition efficiency.

Summary: Pyrazinecarboxamide has been found to effectively inhibit the corrosion of mild steel in 0.5M HCl solution. It adsorbs onto the steel surface following Langmuir adsorption isotherm, with a high proportion of pyrazinecarboxamide being present. The inhibition efficiency of 93.5% was observed in an acid solution containing 1.0mM pyrazinecarboxamide.

Summary: In this study, high-yield carbon quantum dots (CQDs) were synthesized using acetaldehyde as a raw material through a simple chemical oxidation method. The structural characteristics of CQDs were analyzed using FTIR, TEM, TGA, and XPS, revealing the presence of numerous oxygen-containing functional groups on the surface of carbon nuclei. Electrochemical experiments and weight loss measurements showed high inhibitive efficiency of 87.1% and 95.3%, respectively. SEM observations confirmed the adsorption of CQDs on the surface of carbon steel, and the adsorption process was determined to be a combination of physisorption and chemisorption based on calculations of the standard adsorption-free energy (-25 kJ/mol) of CQDs. This research contributes to addressing the corrosion problem of metal equipment in acid processes.

Summary: Triazine derivatives TPA and DTT were synthesized in a one-step process and used as highly effective corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel in oil production. Experimental tests showed that TPA and DTT exhibited excellent inhibition performance with inhibition efficiencies of 97.8% and 99.1% respectively. The adsorptions of TPA and DTT on the steel surface were determined to be through the S, N, O atoms of TPA or the S, N atoms and phenyl ring of DTT.

Summary: The study aims to prevent corrosion of mild steel (MS) in 0.5 M HCl solution using 2-amino-4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazine. The effectiveness of the corrosion inhibitor was determined through electrochemical, surface, and theoretical calculation techniques. The study found that the inhibitor exhibited a high inhibitive activity, with an efficiency of 95.7% in the acid solution.

Summary: This study investigates the efficacy of three hydroquinazolinone derivatives as corrosion inhibitors for copper. The results show that these inhibitors can significantly reduce the corrosion rates and current densities of copper. At high concentrations, these inhibitors demonstrate inhibition efficiencies of up to 97% and exhibit exceptional stability. Surface morphology examinations, spectroscopic investigations, and theoretical computations further confirm the effective interactions between the inhibitors and the copper surface.

Summary: The target pyrrolyl-thiazoldin-4-one inhibitor (PEHT) was synthesized and evaluated for its corrosion inhibition properties on mild steel in acidic solution. PEHT showed maximum protection efficiency at a concentration of 8 x 10(4) M and adsorbed on the metal surface chemically, forming a protective film as deduced from EIS data. The inhibitor acted as a mixed-type inhibitor according to potentiodynamic polarization measurements.

Summary: The study confirmed that nutmeg oil is an effective inhibitor for the corrosion of CSL-52 in hydrochloric acid solution, with increasing inhibition efficacy observed with higher nutmeg oil concentration and lower temperature. Electrochemical and computational studies showed that nutmeg oil acted as a mixed inhibitor and played a significant role in the corrosion inhibition process. This research also aimed to predict the inhibitory potency of the four molecular constituents of nutmeg oil through computational work.
