Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of sexual dysfunctions and sexual behaviors in the Polish population. The results revealed that these issues are highly prevalent, with a significant number of women experiencing decreased sexual desire and men experiencing premature ejaculation. However, it is concerning that only a small percentage of individuals seek professional help for their sexual problems.

Summary: Sexual dysfunction is a common symptom in patients with schizophrenia, with nearly one-third of young and middle-aged chronically medicated male inpatients being affected. The severity of PANSS negative factor is an important predictor of sexual dysfunction, and patients with sexual dysfunction exhibit lower pleasure and higher avoidance motivation when exposed to erotic stimuli compared to non-sexual dysfunction patients.

Summary: This birth cohort study demonstrated a strong association between child maltreatment in one sibling and that in another, with neglect being the strongest subtype. Maternal age <20 years was identified as the strongest predictor of abuse, while familial poverty and parental relationship also played a role in contributing to child maltreatment.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the risk factors associated with sexual dysfunction in patients who underwent robot-assisted surgery for rectal cancer. The results showed that neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy is an independent risk factor for erectile dysfunction after robot-assisted surgery. Patients who underwent lateral lymph node dissection showed better recovery of erectile function compared to those receiving neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy.

Summary: The study identified risk factors for sexual dysfunction after rectal cancer surgery, including age, tumor location, preoperative radiotherapy, and specific surgical procedures. Patients should be informed about potential sexual dysfunctions preoperatively, and surgeons should pay special attention to pelvic autonomic nerve preservation during surgery.

Summary: The study evaluated cardiovascular autonomic activity in diabetic patients and found a strong correlation between CAN and patient age, duration of disease, HbA1c levels, and waist-hip ratio. The duration of disease and poor glycemic control were associated with the development of CAN, and parasympathetic impairment may be more sensitive in detecting autonomic dysfunctions.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the prevalence of sexual dysfunctions and help-seeking behavior in patients with opioid use disorder and those seeking psychotherapeutic help. It found no significant difference in the occurrence of sexual dysfunctions between the two groups, but opioid use disorder patients scored higher in nicotine use and depressive state. The study also identified opioid use disorder, higher age, and being female as predictors of sexual dysfunctions.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of sexual dysfunction (SD) and its related risk factors in men with multiple sclerosis (MS) in Iran. The results revealed a relatively high prevalence of SD in these male MS patients, with age, MSISQ-19, and SQOL-M identified as the only independent predictive factors for SD. Patients with MS in Iran should be screened, diagnosed, and treated for SD and influencing factors based on these findings.

Summary: The study found that the risk of developing MS was 2.3 times higher in offspring of mothers with pregestational diabetes, while the risk was not significantly increased in offspring of mothers with gestational diabetes or diabetic fathers. This suggests that children of diabetic mothers may have an elevated risk of developing MS.

Summary: In the first national cohort study in Denmark, it was found that non-therapeutic male circumcision in infancy or childhood did not provide protection against HIV or other STIs in males up to age 36. In fact, circumcised males had a higher overall STI rate, particularly for anogenital warts and syphilis.

Summary: This study compared measures of sexuality and sexual health between Danish adolescents and young adults with and without a history of treatment for long-lasting or severe physical disease. The results showed that individuals with physical disease had similarities in fundamental aspects of sexuality, but also experienced various sexual difficulties and dysfunctions, early sexual debut, high sex partner numbers, discontentment with body or genital appearance, gender nonconformity, nonheterosexuality, and exposure to sexual assaults. Clinicians should address sexuality and relationships in AYA with chronic health conditions and provide preventive measures and counseling services specifically targeted at physically ill AYA.

Summary: Mental health problems are common among adolescents and young adults, and their associations with sexuality have been sparsely researched. This study aimed to investigate the association between mental health problems and various sexual outcomes in this population. The results showed that female AYA treated for mental health problems had more active sex lives, but also reported higher rates of sexual dysfunctions, early sexual debut, high partner numbers, sexual victimization, unsafe sex, and other sexual adversities. AYA treated for mental health problems constitute a vulnerable group at increased risk of adverse sexual outcomes. Healthcare professionals should acknowledge and address these challenges in order to reduce the risk for this group.

Summary: The study investigates the role of physical activity in employment interventions for young people NEET and develops a 16-week health-promoting employment intervention called NEXT STEP. The findings show that physical activity is meaningful in working with NEET youth and can lead to successful experiences, surplus of mental resources, and the formation of new social relations. The results highlight the potential of including physical activity in employment interventions for NEET young people.
