Summary: This study investigates the potential of using small amounts of ionic liquids to enhance ultrasound-assisted extraction of lipids content from green microalgae. The findings suggest that the addition of ILs improves ultrasonication by enhancing viscosity and reducing water surface tension, resulting in a more powerful acoustic cavitation process. Additionally, the yield of extracted lipids from green microalgae shows an incremental trend with increasing IL concentration.

Summary: This study synthesized twenty new Tet and d-Tet derivatives, with ten showing better cytotoxic effects than the parent compounds, and compound 4g exhibited the strongest cell growth inhibitory activity. Further investigation revealed that compound 4g inhibited A549 cell proliferation by arresting the G2/M cell cycle, reducing MMP-2 and MMP-9 expression, inducing apoptosis through the intrinsic pathway regulated by mitochondria, and blocking the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway. These findings suggest that compound 4g may be a promising drug candidate for lung cancer therapy.

Summary: The study demonstrated that microwave-assisted extraction using ionic liquids, particularly choline acetate, was effective in extracting proteins from microalgae biomass. This method outperformed the conventional Soxhlet method, with higher protein yield and less environmental hazards. The innovative procedure shows promise for significant protein separation and utilization in bioproduct technologies.

Summary: A novel extraction and fractionation concept using Ionic Liquids (ILs) was proposed to extract and recover proteins and carbohydrates from macroalgae. The process involved IL-assisted mechanical shear for initial extraction and two-phase partitioning or ultrafiltration for fractionation. The selective extraction of proteins and the preservation of their native structure were demonstrated. The potential application of this approach in the biorefinery of macroalgae was highlighted.

Summary: A method for rapid screening and identification of ligands for monoamine oxidase B was developed, alongside a new ultrasound-assisted extraction method for medicinal herbs. A hyphenated technique combining countercurrent chromatography and semipreparative-LC was used to isolate chemical constituents for Pueraria thomsonii Benth. Results showed potent monoamine oxidase B inhibitors and evaluated their anti-Alzheimer activity using a PC12 cell model. The protocol demonstrated high accuracy and efficiency.

Summary: This study found that the application of dual-frequency ultrasound-assisted ionic liquids (UA-IL) pretreatment can change the structure and interfacial properties of soy protein isolate (SPI). The pretreatment can loosen the protein structure and expose hydrophobic groups initially hidden inside molecules. After the ionic liquids pretreatment, the solubility, emulsion activity, foaming capacity, and foaming stability of the protein were significantly improved.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the interaction between hydrogen bond acceptor (HBA) and hydrogen bond donor (HBD) in binary mixtures. The findings revealed that the presence of Cl- anion is crucial for the formation of deep eutectic solvents (DESs). Moreover, the structural stability of DESs based on fatty acids (FAs) and choline chloride (Ch(+)Cl(-)) at different ratios was examined using molecular dynamics simulations in water. It was observed that the interaction between the chloride anion and the cation's hydroxyl group causes HBA to transition to the water-rich phase. These atomic sites play a significant role in the stability of eutectic mixtures containing FAs and Cl- anion. Notably, the binary mixture with a mole percent of 30% [Ch(+)Cl(-)] and 70% FAs exhibited higher stability compared to other ratios.
