Summary: Obesity is a significant health concern among companion animals, and many pet owners underestimate their pets' body condition. This study found that about one quarter of pet owners underestimate their pets' body condition, and this tendency is particularly common among owners with children. This discovery emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive approach to pet health and highlights the need for a holistic One Health strategy.

Summary: The study found bidirectional effects between BMI and cognitive abilities, with higher BMI contributing to steeper decline in cognitive abilities in both midlife and late-life, and higher cognitive abilities contributing to less decline in BMI in late-life. The effects of BMI on change in cognitive abilities were more evident in men compared to women, and among those in the lowest tertile of the PGS(BMI) compared to those in the highest tertile.

Summary: India saw a rapid decline in child and adult undernutrition between 2006 and 2016 with no significant gender or residence differences. However, there was a doubling in adult overweight/obesity rates during this period, and the increase in wealth inequalities in rural and urban slum households is concerning.

Summary: In recent years, there has been an increase in the prevalence of overweight and obesity among adolescents, as well as body size underestimation, symptoms of anxiety and depression. Body size underestimation was more common among boys than girls, and was associated with less dieting behavior, higher life satisfaction, and better mental health.

Summary: The study found that BMI has an impact on employment status, mainly by affecting individual health rather than leading to unemployment due to social discrimination. Obesity may increase the risk of sickness/disability, decrease household income, and reduce care for family members.

Summary: The intersection between adolescent obesity and eating disorder risk is concerning, with recognized risk factors such as body dissatisfaction, poor self-esteem, depression, and dieting behaviors being elevated in this population. Supervised weight management may reduce eating disorder risk, but some adolescents may develop or have undiagnosed eating disorders, necessitating a risk management approach in clinical practice. Future research is needed to identify specific eating disorder risk factors in adolescents with obesity.

Summary: This study examined the associations of growth patterns, specifically weight and height during ages 1-59 months, with cardiometabolic risk factors during ages 5-16 years in a high-risk population for type 2 diabetes. The findings indicate that overweight/obesity in early childhood contributes significantly to later cardiometabolic risks, with persistent overweight/obesity further increasing the risks. The study also suggests potential adverse effects of low height-for-age, which require further confirmation.

Summary: Weight change is associated with the risk of metabolic abnormalities. Long-term excessive weight gain is positively associated with an increased risk of metabolic abnormalities in non-overweight/obese individuals, while long-term weight loss is a protective factor for metabolic health in overweight/obese individuals.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the eating behaviors, obesity, and physical activity status of children living in rural and urban areas, as well as the relationships between these factors. The findings showed that children in urban areas had higher scores for food addiction and physical activity levels compared to those in rural areas. Additionally, girls in urban areas had higher physical activity levels than those in rural areas, while no significant difference was found in boys' physical activity levels. Children in rural areas had a higher rate of overweight and obesity, and obese children had higher levels of food addiction and lower physical activity levels. Overall, this study highlights the importance of reducing food addiction and increasing physical activity to prevent childhood obesity.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between infant body composition and later health outcomes. The findings suggest a positive association between infant adiposity and future adiposity or BMI. However, the validity of infant body composition as a biomarker of future health remains inconclusive and further research is needed.

Summary: This study examined the predictors of excess body weight in mother-child pairs after delivery, and found that excessive pre-pregnancy BMI, excessive gestational weight gain, and large-for-gestational age infants were strong predictors of concurrent excess body weight in mother-child pairs. This highlights the importance of implementing targeted public policies before and during pregnancy to prevent excess body weight in both mother and child.

Summary: The study found that adolescents' perceptions of their weight and experiences of bullying in the past month have a significant impact on their mental health. Efforts targeting weight-based bullying and bias, as well as promoting body size acceptance and positive body image, may help reduce the risk of mental illness among adolescents.
