Summary: High-density lipoprotein (HDL) is a small and dense lipoprotein with various functions including cardiovascular protection, structural support, anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidant effects, anti-thrombotic effects, transportation of molecules, and induction of signaling pathways. The relationship between HDL concentration and oral health has not been comprehensively studied, but there is a potential significant association between them. This review summarizes the current knowledge and suggests further investigation of the association between HDL and various oral diseases.

Summary: This study aims to describe trends in explanations provided for racial/ethnic inequities in dental caries and periodontitis, and explore the patterns of relatedness among explanations for these inequities. Highly cited publications were retrieved and assessed for eligibility, and explanations were classified into eight different, but interrelated domains. The findings suggest that dental researchers should consider racism as a cause for existing racial/ethnic inequities in oral health.

Summary: The study revealed that nurses' perceptions of caring for patients with IDD can be understood through the lens of being held hostage in the context of care, depending on intuition and proven experience for care, and contending for the patients' right to adequate care. Nurses felt that the home-care context and organization were not adjusted to the needs of the patients, leading to a disconnect in providing care based on their professional values.
