This paper presents measurements of the shakedown of the compressive residual stresses produced by deep cold rolling caused by low cycle fatigue of the titanium alloys Ti-6Al-4V and IMI679 at room temperature and elevated temperature, respectively. The loads and temperatures were designed to replicate the most extreme conditions expected in the compression stages of a gas turbine engine. Measurements were made using a technique combining XRD and hole drilling.
