Summary: This study investigates the effects of N-doping on the morphological, structural, and optical properties, as well as photocatalytic activity of N-In2O3 films. The results show that N-doping leads to a narrowing of the bandgap and an enhancement in the photoanodic activity of In2O3-based electrodes.

Summary: A series of compounds with the general formula [Ti(OiPr)(3)(L)](m) were synthesized and characterized by NMR. These compounds were tested as precursors for TiO2 thin films and compared to a standard compound [Ti(OiPr)(4)](m). The new compounds showed reduced volatility and increased thermal stability, enabling the growth of TiO2 films with low carbon contamination. A combinatorial deposition strategy combined with in-situ spectral reflectometry allowed for the rapid study of deposition kinetics.

Summary: The influence of europium on the structure and luminescent properties of CaWO4 thin films was investigated, and the sputtering yields of different compounds were studied. The results showed that the compositions of the deposits matched those of the targets, and the lattice constants increased under certain conditions. The preferential growth along a specific crystal plane also increased due to the substitution of Ca2+ with Eu2+. Doping of Eu led to improved photoluminescence performance of the films.

Summary: Hydrogenated amorphous silicon nitride films were analyzed for their chemical composition and physical properties prepared using MW-PECVD process. Factors affecting gas permeability, such as Si-H bond densities, were identified. Optimal conditions resulted in low WVTR and excellent mechanical stability and moisture barrier properties.

Summary: The effects of oxygen flow rates on the properties of titanium and tungsten co-doped indium oxide films were investigated, revealing a decrease in carrier concentration and a change in carrier mobility as oxygen flow rates increased. Films fabricated at higher temperatures exhibited the best performance, with highest mobility and lowest resistivity.

Summary: A new integrated deposition system utilizing magnetron sputtering and electron cyclotron-plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition is presented, which combines the advantages of both fabrication systems and provides users with highly homogeneous and pure thin films. The system mitigates the drawbacks of existing methods of rare-earth doping and allows for well-controlled rare-earth concentration.

Summary: In this paper, transition-metal (TM = V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co and Ni)-doped GeSe thin films with high-temperature ferromagnetism (FM) were fabricated by solid-source chemical vapor deposition (CVD). It was found that Mn-, Fe- and Co-doped GeSe films exhibited robust FM with high Curie temperatures and relatively high hole concentrations. Further analysis indicated that the enhanced ferromagnetism in these films was attributed to the carrier-enhanced Ruderman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida interaction. This study provides insights into TM-doped GeSe diluted magnetic semiconductor thin films.

Summary: In this study, amorphous Mn-doped gallium oxide films with room-temperature ferromagnetism were prepared by polymer-assisted deposition. The magnetic properties of the films depend on the concentration of Mn and the enhancement of ferromagnetism comes from the strong coupling between oxygen vacancies and Mn ions.

Summary: The refractive index is crucial in waveguides as it determines key parameters such as propagation modes and losses. TiO2 is an interesting material with a high refractive index (>2) and low cost. By creating oxygen vacancies, the refractive index of TiO2 can be further increased (>2.4). However, the increase in oxygen vacancy content may lead to high absorption of light (>50%), which requires exploring the limits of light propagation. In this study, TiO2-x films were fabricated using ALD, and the limits of its application as a waveguide were investigated.

Summary: The study investigates the effect of annealing temperature on the properties of Co-doped TiO2 nanoparticles synthesized by the sol-gel method. The annealing temperature resulted in different crystal structures and morphologies of the nanoparticles. The incorporation of Co in the TiO2 matrix and the formation of oxygen vacancies were observed. The nanoparticles exhibited ferromagnetic behavior at room temperature due to the presence of oxygen vacancies and Co doping.
