Summary: Metal aerogels (MAs) are a new class of porous materials consisting of nanostructured metals. They possess unique physicochemical properties and show great potential in various fields such as electrocatalysis and sensing. However, due to their short research history, fundamental studies and practical applications of MAs are still limited. Challenges include controlled synthesis, structural diversity, and the correlation between material parameters and properties. Thorough knowledge and design principles of MAs are crucial for further development in this promising field.

Summary: Template-free reaction systems are essential for regulating and efficiently synthesizing 1D SnO2 nanostructures. In this study, 1D SnO2 nanostructures were prepared using the hydrothermal method with SnCl4·5H2O as the tin source.Characterization using various analytical methods confirmed the formation of mixed morphology 1D SnO2 nanostructures consisting of nanorods and nanowires. The addition of polyvinylpyrrolidone and seed crystal decreased the acquisition time of the 1D SnO2 nanostructures from 48 to 12 hours.

Summary: A series of Ca-Mn-O based nanostructures were synthesized through a sol-gel procedure assisted by leucine. The effect of Ca:Mn ratio in the synthesis process was examined to study the purity and components of samples. The resulting Ca2Mn3O8/CaMn3O6 nanocomposites showed promising electrochemical hydrogen storage capacity, making them a potential active material in energy storage systems.

Summary: This study demonstrates the synthesis of SrAl2O4 doped with Eu, Dy, and B in a SiO2 glass structure using the low-temperature sol-gel method. By varying the synthesis conditions, water-soluble precursors and a dilute aqueous solution of rare-earth nitrates were used as starting materials, resulting in translucent, persistently luminescent glass. It is concluded that the slow drying procedure is optimal for removing excess water and solvent molecules, while boron plays a crucial role in the formation of trapping centers.

Summary: ZnO hollow microspheres were successfully prepared using a sucrose-derived carbon template-assisted hydrothermal method. The microspheres showed a shell composed of aggregated ZnO nanoparticles and a hollow interior after decomposition of the sucrose-derived carbon core. Both ZnO hollow microspheres and ZnO nanoparticles exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity for rhodamine blue degradation under UV light, with the hollow microspheres showing 10% higher efficiency due to their nanoporous structure, higher surface area, and easy formation of ·OH radicals.

Summary: Different fuels used for preparing monticellite influence its material properties, with glycine and urea resulting in pure monticellite phase, while citric acid derived material showing akermanite as a secondary phase. Monticellite exhibits a spherical beads like structure with particle agglomeration and micron-sized particles. The monticellite prepared using urea as a fuel shows high surface roughness.

Summary: The color-tunable GdCaAl3O7: RE3+ (RE = Eu, Tb, Eu@Tb) phosphors were successfully synthesized using an ultrafast sol-gel auto-combustion method. The luminescent properties, concentration quenching mechanism, and thermal stability of these phosphors were investigated. The results indicate that the phosphors exhibit high efficiency and stability, making them suitable for indoor lighting applications.

Summary: In this study, barium titanate powders were synthesized using sol-gel and sol-precipitation methods. The microstructural and dielectric properties of the samples prepared by both methods were compared. The sol-gel derived samples exhibited an increase in the tetragonal phase and dielectric constant with increasing temperatures, while the sol-precipitation derived sample was cubic. The presence of BaCO3 was more evident in the sol-precipitation derived sample, and the band gap of the products did not show significant variation with the synthesis method.

Summary: Highly transparent ZnO films were successfully deposited on glass substrates using the sol-gel technique. The quality of the films was influenced by the concentration of zinc in the precursor solution and the annealing temperature. The films showed good crystallinity and preferential orientation, and exhibited high transmittance of over 90%.

Summary: In this study, cobalt ferrite magnetic nanoparticles doped with zinc and vanadium were synthesized using the sol-gel auto-combustion method. The samples were characterized using various techniques, and the results showed that doping affected the crystal structure, grain size, and morphology of the synthesized particles, as well as the saturation magnetization and coercivity. These findings are of great importance for understanding the physical properties and applications of cobalt ferrite.

Summary: In this study, B4C-BN nanocomposite powders were successfully synthesized using the sol-gel method, and the effects of polyelectrolyte on phase content, particle size, and morphology were investigated. The results showed that the addition of ammonium polycarboxylate as a dispersing agent and a nitrogen source could control the dimensions, crystallinity, and B4C to BN phase ratio of the synthesized powders.
