Summary: Coal spontaneous combustion endangers the safety of the coal industry and results in the emission of a large amount of carbon dioxide, which poses a threat to the ecological environment. This study demonstrates that ionic liquid can be used as a flame retardant to inhibit the spontaneous combustion of coal.

Summary: The development of a novel absorbent for CO2 separation technology was investigated in this study. The experimental results showed that the developed technology had a significantly higher CO2 mass-transfer rate and lower cost compared to current commercialized technology. The absorption ability index successfully predicted the performance of CO2 separation technologies.

Summary: This study investigated the potential application of bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide based ionic liquids paired with various cations for the esterification of curcumin, showing that the product of curcumin diacetate (DAC) can be obtained at moderate conditions without the use of organic solvents. The presence of IL in the reaction system accelerates the achievement of chemical equilibrium and increases the reaction rate.

Summary: This work investigates the physicochemical properties of three binary mixtures containing ionic liquids mixed with 2-propanol. The effects of temperature, cation, and anion on properties such as density, speed of sound, refractive index, and viscosity were analyzed. Excess properties were calculated and correlated with composition data using the Redlich-Kister polynomial equation.

Summary: In this study, the densities and viscosities of binary mixtures of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide, [bmim][NTf2], and ethylene glycol (EG) were experimentally measured. A first-order polynomial and Vogel-FulcherTammann equation were used to estimate the densities and viscosities of the mixtures, respectively. The excess molar volume, viscosity, and Gibbs energy of activation for viscous flow were calculated and fitted to the Redlich-Kister equation. The thermal expansion coefficients and partial and apparent molar volumes of [bmim][NTf2] and EG in their binary mixtures were also investigated.

Summary: In this study, vapor-liquid equilibrium data near azeotropic points of the title system were measured at different temperatures. A newly-developed method based on relatively small amounts of input data was used to process the data, providing a thermodynamic description of azeotropic behavior.

Summary: This study investigated the hydrogen bonding interactions between ether-functionalized IL and co-solvents at different concentrations using FTIR, excess infrared spectroscopy, and quantum chemical calculations. It was found that the strength of hydrogen bonds increased during dilution with co-solvents, with the EOMIMTFSI-DMSO system exhibiting the strongest interactions. The main interaction sites and types varied among the studied systems, providing insights into the microscopic properties of ether-functionalized ILs.

Summary: In this study, an ionic liquid based on Aliquat(+) with the fluorinated anion NTf2- was successfully prepared through anionic exchange. The structure of the obtained ionic liquid was characterized using various spectroscopic techniques, and its thermal properties were investigated. Theoretical calculations predicted a hexadentate coordination mode between the cation and anion in the IL.

Summary: Chirality transfer is observed from (R)-1,2-propylene oxide to the achiral anion of the 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ionic liquid. This observation is important as it demonstrates selectivity and shows that anion effects are predominant in this system. Molecular dynamics simulations and spectroscopic analysis reveal an excess of one conformer in the presence of the chiral solute, leading to optical activity of the anion.

Summary: The interface between ionic liquids (ILs) and metals, particularly in electrochemical deposition and nanoscale tribology applications, was studied. The interaction between [Py-1,Py-4]TFSI and [EMIm]TFSI ILs and platinum was found to be minimal, while strong interaction with the surface was observed in the case of [EMIm]TFSI. On the other hand, massive decomposition of both ILs occurred on the aluminum surface. The spectra revealed cleavage of C-F or N-S bonds in the [TFSI](-) anion and the appearance of various decomposition products at the interface.

Summary: Ionic liquid trimethylsulfonium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide was synthesized and combined with polyethylene oxide and sodium perchlorate to produce solid polymer electrolyte membranes. Various techniques were used to characterize the materials and products, and electrochemical tests were conducted to determine the ionic conductivity and battery performance. These membranes showed promising results in terms of specific capacity and coulombic efficiency for Na-ion battery applications.

Summary: This study focuses on the preparation of biopolymeric films using starch from jackfruit seeds, cellulose from sisal fiber, and glycerol. The films show potential for application in biodegradable packaging due to their noble properties. The addition of cellulose increases the solubility of the films in acidic media and decreases their water vapor permeability. Tensile tests indicate that the incorporation of cellulose enhances the maximum stress and strain at break of the films. FTIR and TG/DTG analysis confirm the presence of cellulose in the films and its effect on thermal stability.
