Based on SU(3) flavor symmetry, we decompose the decay amplitudes of bottom baryon decays to a pseudoscalar meson and an octet (a decuplet) pentaquark in terms of three (two) invariant amplitudes T-1 and T-2,T-3 ((T) over tilde (1) and (T) over tilde (2)) corresponding to external W-emission and internal W-emission diagrams, respectively. For antitriplet bottom baryons Lambda(0)(b), Xi(0)(b), and Xi(-)(b), their decays to a decuplet pentaquark proceed only through the internal W-emission diagram. Assuming the dominance from the external W-emission amplitudes, we present an estimate of the decay rates relative to Lambda(0)(b) -> Pp+K-, where P-p(+) is the hidden-charm pentaquark with the same light-quark content as the proton. Hence, our numerical results will provide a very useful guideline to the experimental search for pentaquarks in bottom baryon decays. For example, Xi(0)(b) -> P Sigma+K-, Xi(-)(b) -> P Sigma-(K) over bar (0), Omega(-)(b) -> P Xi-(K) over bar (0), and Omega(-)(b) -> P Xi 0K- may have rates comparable to that of Lambda(0)(b) -> Pp+K- and these modes should be given the higher priority in the experimental searches for pentaquarks.

Width effects in resonant three-body decays: B decay as an example

Hai-Yang Cheng, Cheng-Wei Chiang, Chun-Khiang Chua

Summary: This study demonstrates the proper extraction of quasi-two-body decay rates for three-body hadron decays mediated by intermediate resonances, and compares them with experimental parameterization. The difference in decay rates between theoretical estimates and experimental results is generally less than 10% for tensor and vector resonances, but can be as large as 25-40% for scalar resonances.

Two-body baryonic Bu;d;s and Bc to charmless final state decays

Chun-Khiang Chua

Summary: We study the rates and direct CP violations of two-body baryonic B over bar (u;d;s) -> B B over bar' and B-c(-)- B B over bar' decays. The results show that the rates satisfy all existing experimental bounds and some are close to the bounds. Factorization diagrams contribute to penguin-exchange, exchange, annihilation, and penguin -annihilation amplitudes. The small direct CP violations of pure penguin modes are robust predictions of the standard model.

Finite-width effects in three-body B decays

Hai-Yang Cheng, Cheng-Wei Chiang, Chun-Khiang Chua

Summary: This study investigates the impact of finite-width effects on decay processes, proposes a general framework for calculating correction parameters, and explores the behavior of different resonant states in the zero width limit. The research finds that resonances of different categories exhibit variations in strong couplings and weak decay amplitudes, which can be explained through the study of differential rates.
