Summary: In this study, a plasmonic catalyst Au-Pt-SiC was prepared by introducing Pt-Si bonds on the SiC surface, creating an excellent channel for efficient photo-electron transfer. The localized surface plasmon resonance effect of Au further activated the Pt-Si bonds and motivated a high-efficient photo-electron transport channel among Au, Pt, and SiC. The LSPR of Au also enhanced light absorption and broadened the range of light absorption.

Summary: The activation of Si-H and/or Si-Si bonds in organosilicon compounds by transition-metal species is important, but the preferences of group-10-metal species in this activation are not well understood. Here, it is shown that Pt(0) species selectively activate the Si-H bonds in a linear tetrasilane, while Pd(0) preferentially activate the Si-Si bonds.

Summary: The study observed the evolution of Pt coverage on different surfaces based on experimental results, revealing the importance of chemisorption, metal atom diffusion, and up-stepping in film growth. Pt films were easier to form on Al2O3 and Ni surfaces compared with on Si and Au surfaces.

Summary: Atomically dispersed metal catalysts can maximize metal utilization and provide unique chemical properties. Self-pillared nanosheet-supported metal catalysts, such as PtZn/SP-S-1, exhibit high stability and specific activity, with no obvious deactivation after 90 hours at high temperature. They have potential to guide high-temperature catalysis.

Summary: This article presents a facile strategy to selectively deposit Pt catalyst on the top of p-Si micro-pyramids, which enhances both light absorption and charge transport. The spatio-selective strategy allows the Si photocathode to achieve a high applied bias photon-to-current efficiency of 3.84% for hydrogen production.

Summary: We report a series of heterobimetallic Pt/Zn and Pt/Ca complexes to study the effect of proximity of a dicationic base metal on the organometallic Pt species. Varying degrees of Pt center dot center dot center dot Zn and Zn interaction with the bridging Me group are achieved, showcasing snapshots of a hypothetical process of retrotransmetalation from Pt to Zn. In contrast, only weak interactions were observed for Ca with a Pt-bound Me group. Activation of H-2, B-H and Si-H bonds leads to the formation of hydride-bridged Pt-H-Zn complexes, which is not observed in the absence of Zn, pointing out the importance of metal-metal cooperation. Reactivity of PtMe2/M2+ with terminal acetylene, water and methanol is also studied, leading to facile protonation of one of the Me groups at the Pt center only when Zn is present. This study sheds light on various ways in which the presence of a 2+ metal cation significantly affects the reactivity of a common organo-platinum complex.

Summary: The formation and thermal stability of Pt surface oxides on a Pt thin film were studied using ambient-pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results showed that at a certain oxygen pressure, the Pt surface oxide was formed and decomposed during heating and cooling processes, which is important for understanding the surface states and catalytic mechanisms of platinum films.

Summary: This review summarizes the research on the development of Pt(IV) prodrugs with NSAIDs as axial ligands, their cytotoxic action and anti-inflammatory activity mechanism studies, structure-activity ratio, and therapeutic efficacy. The chemo-anti-inflammatory strategy aims to efficiently deliver cytotoxic metabolites and NSAIDs intracellularly in tumor cells to reduce side effects and increase therapeutic efficacy. Studies have shown high therapeutic efficacy both in vitro and in vivo.

Summary: In water splitting electrolyzers, platinum single-atom catalysts show remarkable catalytic activity and stability for anodic oxygen evolution. Their superior performance is attributed to the unique coordination with cobalt hydrogen phosphate and the suppression of soluble platinum species. Utilizing alkaline water electrolyzers with ultra-low platinum loading achieves industrial-level current density and high durability.

Summary: Our recent research shows that protein engineering can enhance the catalytic capacity of certain flavoproteins towards metal-containing substrates. By using site-directed mutagenesis, the photocatalytic activity of flavoprotein towards Pt(IV) substrates can be modulated. Among the mutants prepared, Q103V mSOG exhibited improved catalytic efficiency due to its longer triplet excited-state lifetime.

Summary: This study reports the controlled photoreduction deposition of different Pt-based co-catalysts on the surface of BVO to address the fast charge carrier recombination issue, with a focus on the role of Pt oxidation state in determining photoactivity. Results showed that a mixture of Pt0/PtOx species acted as better cocatalysts than Pt0, leading to a nearly 4-fold higher apparent quantum yield for the optimized sample.

Summary: In this study, two new asymmetric Pt(IV) derivatives were designed and synthesized, which could be effectively activated into toxic Pt(II) species by incubation with nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, sodium ascorbate, and glutathione in the dark and under light irradiation. One of the derivatives displayed enhanced toxicity in MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells preincubated with ascorbate, suggesting selective triggering of oxaliplatin generation through redox activation. Covalent binding of the flavin to the Pt complex was shown to be pivotal for this effect.
