Summary: This study aimed to conduct a preformulation study on JMV5038 as a new potent cytotoxic agent and to develop its formulation within vegetable oil-based hybrid submicron particles to combat melanoma. JMV5038-loaded HNP showed high loading efficiency and exhibited sustained release in vitro over one month, with slightly enhanced cytotoxic activity against melanoma cells while maintaining safety on NIH 3T3 cells. The results suggest that JMV5038-loaded HNP could serve as an efficient and safe drug delivery system for further evaluation in preclinical studies.

Summary: The Thermodynamic Geometry (TG) of Mie fluids in the subcritical and supercritical region is studied using a third order thermodynamic perturbation theory equation of state (EOS). The R-crossing method of TG is applied to reproduce the coexistence curves related to Mie fluids. The behavior of the R-Widom line is analyzed and found to be dependent on the stiffness and range potential for the Mie fluids. A correspondence states principle is found for the R-Widom line, and a Clausius-Clapeyron-type relation near the critical point in the supercritical region is fulfilled.

Summary: Encapsulation of antibodies within liposomes using supercritical fluid-based process called SuperLip was studied. The process enables continuous production of high encapsulation efficiency liposomes with mean diameters ranging between 205 and 501 nm. The effect of operative parameters on liposome properties and antibody entrapment efficiency was investigated.

Summary: The study found that the crossover points, corresponding to the intersections of the solubility isotherms in supercritical fluid, are not fixed but tend to shift with temperature change, eventually converging to a single point at a certain threshold. Experimental results show that the wider the temperature range of the study, the more pronounced the effect of crossover points drift can be observed.

Summary: Recent advancements in drug delivery technologies have led to the emergence of nanotechnology as a potential tool in cancer therapeutics. Solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) have shown great potential for drug delivery, clinical medicine, and overcoming challenges in cancer therapy. Further research is needed to better understand the biological responses of SLNs and develop therapeutics with reduced side effects. This review focuses on the development, mechanisms, and applications of SLNs in cancer treatment.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of precipitation conditions of acetate precursors in supercritical CO2 (temperature, pressure, solvent composition) on the synthesis of mixed Ni-Cu systems. The synthesized samples are characterized using various physicochemical techniques including SEM, nitrogen adsorption, IR-Fourier spectroscopy, and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results demonstrate that using water as a cosolvent and performing the process under supercritical conditions enable the preparation of mixed Ni-Cu systems with a homogeneous solid solution structure at a metal atomic ratio of Ni/Cu = 1/1.

Summary: Nanoparticles administered via the nasal cavity demonstrated uptake through various endocytic pathways, with continued uptake observed even after exposure to pharmacological inhibitors. The study revealed that a combination of endocytic pathways are involved in the transfer of nanoparticles into the nasal mucosa. Additionally, non-energy-dependent pathways for nanoparticle uptake were observed following exposure to general metabolic inhibitors, highlighting the potential for lipid nanoparticles in local and systemic drug delivery following nasal administration.

Summary: After 20 years of research, nanoscale delivery systems for biologicals in nanomedicine have become clinically relevant. Microfluidic-based production of solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) is shown to be efficient in encapsulating and delivering lysozyme (LZ), with smaller size and higher encapsulation efficacy compared to conventional methods. This study demonstrates the potential of microfluidic production of SLNs for encapsulation and delivery of complex biological molecules.

Summary: Mixed Co-Ni bimetallic systems with solid substitution structure were synthesized using the supercritical antisolvent precipitation method, and their properties were characterized. It was found that Co-enriched systems have a defective hexagonal close-packed structure, and an increase in water content affects their structure and distribution. The mixed systems showed the highest coercivity, while the Ni-enriched systems had a cubic close-packed structure with modified lattice parameters.

Summary: A batch process for producing lutein-loaded liposomes using supercritical CO2 was studied, showing that temperature, pressure, and lutein to lipid ratio had no significant impact on the size, size distribution, and encapsulation efficiency of the formed liposomes. The process allowed the production of nanoliposomes suitable for human target delivery.
