Summary: Lip repositioning surgery is an effective method for reducing excessive gingival display in the short term, with satisfactory results up to 6 months. However, efficacy may decrease progressively over time, with a relapse of approximately 25% expected after 12 months. Combining LRS with other approaches, such as periodontal surgeries or botox injections, may enhance predictability and stability of outcomes.

Summary: This study used cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) to investigate gingival thickness and biologic width in the aesthetic zone of an Asian population. The study introduced the gingival geometric ratio as a new parameter for assessing soft tissue stability and predicting aesthetic outcomes. The results showed that most central incisors had thick gingivae, while thin gingivae were more prevalent in lateral incisors. The majority of the facial gingival tissues of both central and lateral incisors were categorized as low crest.

Summary: This cross-sectional study aimed to examine upper lip and smile characteristics and soft tissue excessive gingival display (EGD) etiologies in a nondental adult population and to analyze interracial and intergender differences. The study found significant differences in UL anatomical and functional characteristics and EGD etiologies among different races and genders, and UL mobility/hypermobility was the most consistently significant determinant of GD.

Summary: This study aims to develop a comprehensive decision-making tree for evaluating mid-facial peri-implant soft tissue dehiscence in the esthetic zone and provides a systematic approach for assessing various clinical case scenarios. The combination of proper surgical techniques and interdisciplinary collaboration is critical for achieving better long-term esthetic outcomes.

Summary: The aim of this study was to explore the dental asymmetries of the front region of the maxilla in patients with cleft lip and palate. Through analyzing plaster casts and panoramic X-rays of 154 cleft patients and 151 healthy individuals, it was found that most dental anomalies among cleft patients were focused on the lateral incisors and their width asymmetry. Conclusion: Dental problems are more frequent in patients with cleft lip and palate compared to healthy individuals, with the lateral incisors being the most commonly affected.

Summary: Lip repositioning surgery can be a successful treatment for minor discrepancies in gingival display in selected cases, but further well-organized controlled clinical trials are recommended to determine the long-term stability compared with other alternatives.

Summary: Periodontal disease (PD) is the most common oral pathology in dogs, but its prevalence varies depending on diagnosis methodology, breed, and age. Studying a specific group of dogs in Spain, we found that dental calculus was the most prevalent oral issue, with low prevalence of PD attributed to factors such as diagnosis methodology, bodyweight, breed, and diet. Individuals affected by dental calculus were most closely monitored for potential PD development.

Summary: This study evaluated the changes of keratinized mucosa and soft tissue volume around non-submerged implants before prosthetic rehabilitation. It was found that the width of KM significantly changed on both buccal and lingual aspects within 3 months, while buccal soft tissue volume increased between baseline and follow up.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of different incision techniques on gingival papilla height in dental implant surgery. Cases using intrasulcular incisions or papilla sparing incisions were analyzed, and images of gingival papilla were captured. The ratio of papilla height to crown length was measured and compared. The results showed that papilla height decreases after implant placement surgery in all groups, but there is no significant difference between different incision techniques. However, in the second stage surgery, intrasulcular incisions lead to more papilla atrophy compared to papilla sparing incisions.

Summary: This study compared the accuracy of a digital scanner and a 3D measuring tool with the conventional method in determining the positions of gingival zenith points. It found that both the digital and analog methods were compatible in determining the positions of gingival zeniths. Therefore, the choice of method can be based on the available equipment, time, comfort, and personal preference of the researcher.

Summary: Hypodontia has a significant impact on dentofacial features, including retruded lips, tooth position, and facial convexity. The severity of the impact is related to the number of missing teeth, with 5 or more congenitally missing teeth having a greater effect on facial aesthetics.

Summary: The study evaluated the barrier function of PIE compared with a native JE in a mouse model. The PIE lacked a Wnt-responsive stem cell niche and exhibited characteristics of chronically inflamed tissue, which contributed to its suboptimal barrier function compared with a native JE.

Summary: This study aimed to observe the relationships between dental and skeletal maturation stages to determine which methods could be applied to a French population for age estimation. The results showed a moderate but statistically significant correlation between dental calcification stages and skeletal developmental stages, with girls showing earlier vertebral maturation stages.

Summary: There are various dental age estimation methods, but they do not meet the needs of forensic practice, which requires simple, effective, and user-friendly methods. Ruquet (2015) proposed an age estimation method based on alveolar bone loss, which is more accurate for individuals aged 25-40. This study re-evaluated Ruquet's method using three-dimensional imaging and found a significant correlation between bone loss and age. However, further refinement is needed to improve the precision of this method.
