Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of early-life pain/stress and medical characteristics on neurobehavioral outcomes in preterm infants. The results showed that acute and chronic pain/stress in the first 12 days of life had a negative impact on neurobehavioral outcomes. Gestational age and maternal breastmilk intake were significant predictors of better neurobehavioral outcomes.

Summary: This study found that people's attitudes towards coexistence with lions are influenced by a range of tangible and intangible factors, with intangible factors such as fear and ecocentric values being as important, if not more important, than tangible factors. Measures to reduce fear, decrease livestock losses, and ensure local communities benefit from conservation efforts are recommended to facilitate coexistence with large carnivores.

Summary: Many neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) are facing a critical point where deaths following the limitation of life-supporting treatments exceed those following unsuccessful resuscitations. Furthermore, many surviving infants still require intensive support. This article argues for the implementation of advance care planning (ACP) in the NICU setting by examining the current state of parental needs for decisional support and serious illness, and how ACP could address the limitations in pediatric palliative care and decision-making in the newborn period.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the factors influencing parental decision to vaccinate their daughters against human papillomavirus (HPV) in Korea. The results showed that parents who had received the HPV vaccine themselves were more likely to decide to vaccinate their daughters. Regular cervical cancer screening and parental knowledge and risk perception of HPV vaccination also played a significant role in the decision-making process.

Summary: An accurate therapeutic diet is crucial for improving medical condition. This study found the prevalence of dietary errors to be low, but the majority of errors were critical. Errors mainly occurred during diet card preparation by dietitians, on weekdays during breakfasts, and in the cardiac care ward. Lack of backup or accessory food staff and personal/domestic issues of employees were identified as the causes. Adopting organizational behavior strategies can reduce dietary errors and improve patients' well-being and employee satisfaction.

Summary: Understanding the current types and frequencies of therapy services in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and predicting the referral for therapy services are crucial for positive long-term outcomes in very preterm infants. This study investigated the therapy services received by 83 very preterm infants and found that the frequency of therapy sessions varied by type and discharge week. Infants at high risk for cerebral palsy received more therapy sessions, and the baseline General Movements Assessment was associated with occupational therapy sessions. Neonatal Medical Index scores and Test of Infant Motor Performance scores were not predictive of therapy services. Medical and developmental risk factors should be considered for referral to therapy services in the NICU.
