Summary: This study aimed to explore and document the unpriced costs incurred by parents following the birth of a preterm infant in the first year of life in a low resource setting. The study found that the care of preterm infants, including the longer time required for their care, frequent hospital visits, and readmissions, had a negative impact on parents' work patterns. Therefore, it is recommended to provide guidance on financial planning, develop policies and programs on social and financial support for parents, and conduct further research on the indirect costs of preterm care.

Summary: Relationships between parents and their descendants are crucial for healthy socio-emotional development. Personality traits significantly impact parenting constructs, suggesting that parents' psychological aspects can affect their descendants. Our study assessed how parents' aversive personality traits and parenting style characteristics influenced their descendants' mental health and self-esteem mediated by relationship satisfaction. The results showed that parental psychopathy influenced an authoritarian parenting style, leading to worse relationship satisfaction and affecting their descendants' mental health and self-esteem. The indirect effects of parental psychopathy on outcomes were higher for mothers than fathers. This study provides important insights into the influence of parents' dark traits on their descendants' mental well-being.
