Summary: This study examines the relationship between daily emotion regulation strategies and total conviction. The results show that total conviction in the experimental setting predicts behavior change, while the tendency to suppress emotions has a negative effect on total conviction.

Summary: Emotion regulation is important for physical and mental health. This study found that the intensity of emotions influenced the choice of regulation strategies, with higher intensity leading to more rumination and less reappraisal. Men were also found to use more strategies than women. Rating: 8/10.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of a digital self-management intervention called EPIO for people living with chronic pain. The results showed significant reductions in symptoms of depression and self-regulatory fatigue, but no significant improvement in pain interference. Participants found EPIO to be useful, easy to use, and containing easily understandable exercises.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the association between short-term memory and the within-subject variability of pain reports. The study found a significant correlation between short-term memory and within-subject variability in fibromyalgia patients, and a marginal correlation in healthy participants. These findings suggest that some of the variability in pain intensity reports in patients may be attributed to measurement error caused by poorer short-term memory rather than true fluctuations in perception.

Summary: Induction with short-term insulin therapy followed by maintenance with metformin can stabilize beta-cell function in early type 2 diabetes. The study found that initial reversibility of beta-cell dysfunction and preserved hepatic insulin sensitivity are associated with sustained stabilization of beta-cell function.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between personality facets and pain intensity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis, finding that neuroticism was directly associated with pain intensity, while agreeableness had an opposite indirect effect on pain intensity through pain catastrophizing. Other personality facets did not show significant indirect associations with pain.

Summary: This paper introduces a recurrent neural system called long short-term cognitive networks (LSTCNs) for efficiently forecasting very long time series. By combining multiple short-term cognitive network blocks, introducing a new learning algorithm, and feature influence score, the model improves prediction accuracy and speeds up the process compared to state-of-the-art recurrent models.

Summary: This paper investigates the power system adequacy in relation to nuclear strategies by considering investment and dispatching together. The findings suggest that the future French power system requires greater flexibility in both nuclear and gas due to higher granularity of time-steps compared to prospective models. Additionally, scenarios with high shares of renewables depend on the arbitrage between nuclear and gas, especially during peak loads in winter and night periods. The study highlights the importance of coupling short-term operation with long-term investment to make informed decisions on renewables and nuclear, taking into account reactor constraints.

Summary: The recent shortage of iohexol has disrupted the pharmaceutical supply chain critical to radiologic imaging and affected the global availability of iodinated contrast media (ICM). This shortage has created a national crisis in radiology departments, hampering their ability to provide contrast-enhanced examinations for patients. This report aims to provide short-term strategies for dealing with the shortage and discuss long-term issues and potential solutions to supply chain problems impacting radiology departments.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relationships between visual and verbal short-term memory and sentence comprehension in Catalan-speaking subjects with aphasia. The results showed that individuals with aphasia performed significantly lower on all tasks, with visual short-term memory being better preserved than verbal memory. There were no significant correlations found between memory and language comprehension, suggesting that memory deficits cannot explain comprehension deficits in aphasia.

Summary: The study found that there is no direct correlation between the intensity of acute experimental pain and the concentration or changes of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) in serum. However, short-term changes in sICAM-1 were observed after pain induction, indicating that this marker is part of a demand-oriented homeostatically controlled system.

Summary: This work proposes a dynamic model to represent sequential decision making in power systems with high renewable energy penetration. It considers uncertainties in both long-term and short-term levels as path-dependent stochastic processes. The model accounts for correlations between inflow forecasts, renewable generation, spot and contract prices through interconnected long- and short-term decision trees. A case study of the Brazilian power sector demonstrates the value of the model in defining optimal trading strategies for wind power generators.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of the GABA facilitator valproic acid on morphine-induced behavioral tolerance and memory disruption, finding that valproic acid could ameliorate memory dysfunction caused by associative morphine tolerance. The expression of hippocampal GABAr alpha receptors was affected in morphine tolerant rats, with heavier impact observed in associative morphine tolerance rats. This research adds to our understanding of the behavioral and molecular aspects of morphine tolerance and memory effects.

Summary: Somatosensory information is efficiently processed in the spinal cord by frequency-tuned synapses, which display activity-dependent forms of short-term plasticity. These properties allow for powerful gain control in neuronal networks and contribute to the integration of nociceptive messages and the effectiveness of nonpharmacological analgesic procedures.

Summary: Patients with psychosis showed more pronounced deficits in Cognitive and Affective ToM compared to non-clinical controls, while there were no significant differences in Hyper-ToM errors. Deficits in Cognitive ToM were associated with general delusions, while problems in Affective ToM were linked to negative and disorganized symptoms. Furthermore, there was no association between Hyper-ToM errors and any symptoms when controlling for educational level.

Summary: Present-centered therapy (PCT) was originally developed as a comparator for the nonspecific effects of psychotherapy in treating posttraumatic stress disorder, but it has shown promising results in treating prolonged grief disorder (PGD) as well. Research demonstrates that PCT can significantly reduce PGD symptoms in adults, with treatment effects larger than those reported in traditional meta-analyses and good feasibility in outpatient settings.

Summary: This study investigated the concordance between the diagnostic criteria for prolonged grief disorder (PGD) in DSM-5-TR and ICD-11. The results showed significant differences in diagnostic rates, mainly due to the time criterion and the presentation of core symptoms. With the potential increase in PGD prevalence rates during the COVID-19 pandemic, practitioners should be cautious about the diagnostic rule used and consider a stepped-care approach if there is uncertainty about the presence of full-blown PGD.

Summary: Previous research on the relationship between social status and pain has produced inconsistent findings. This study aimed to explore the causal relationship between perceived social status and pain thresholds through experimental manipulation. Fifty-one female undergraduates were assigned to either a low or high-status condition. Participants' pain thresholds were measured before and after manipulating their perception of social status. The results showed that participants in the low-status condition reported increased pain thresholds after the manipulation, while those in the high-status condition reported decreased pain thresholds (beta = 0.22; 95% CI, 0.002 to 0.432; p < .05). These findings suggest that perceived social status may have a causal effect on pain thresholds.

Summary: This study found that trauma-focused psychotherapy in routine clinical care has medium to large effects on PTSD inpatients, and a combined predictor model with sociodemographic, clinical, and psychometric variables can help predict treatment outcomes. Factors such as psychoticism, total number of diagnoses, and bronchial asthma consistently showed a stable negative predictive relationship to treatment outcome.
