New sulfonyl-containing aminosilanes, 4,4'-bis(N,N'-trimethylsilyl)amino diphenyl sulfone (1) and 4,4'-bis(N,N'-dimethylvinylsilyl)aminodiphenyl sulfone (2) were synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, high-resolution mass spectrometry, as well as infrared spectra and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry. The single-crystal X-ray structures of the compounds indicate the existence of extensive intermolecular hydrogen bonding. Their photophysical properties were also investigated. (C) 2013 Elsevier B.
