An iron-catalyzed oxidative esterification reaction between unactivated C(sp(3))-H bonds from symmetric and asymmetric ethers and carboxylic acids using di-tert-butyl peroxide (DTBP) as the oxidant via a cross dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reaction was established, which tolerates a wide range of cyclic ether substrates to react with aromatic acids and phenylacetic acid, providing an efficient method for the preparation of alpha-acyloxy ethers with good to excellent yields. Intermolecular competing kinetic isotope effect (KLE) experiments were also carried out, which indicate that C(sp(3))-H bond cleavage may be the rate-determining step of this CDC reaction.

Preparation of Pt nanoparticles embedded on ordered mesoporous carbon hybrids for sensitive detection of acetaminophen

Summary: In this study, Pt species embedded on ordered mesoporous carbon (Pt/OMC) hybrids were synthesized rapidly using a facile microwave-assisted route. The formation of the electrocatalysts was confirmed by various characterization techniques. Due to their unique structure and synergetic effects, Pt/OMC hybrids were found to be effective and sensitive electrocatalysts for the detection of acetaminophen. The successful fabrication of Pt/OMC hybrids could open up new opportunities for the preparation of electrochemical sensors for pharmaceutical product determination.

Multiple stabilization roles of thermally reduced graphene oxide for both thermo- and photo-oxidation of polypropylene: deter, delay, and defend

Summary: The study demonstrates that thermally reduced graphene oxide (TrGO) has inhibitory effects on the thermo- and photo-oxidation of isotactic polypropylene (iPP), with stronger stabilization effects observed as the TrGO content increases. Under photo-oxidation, TrGO leads to an increase in the proportion of ketones and lactones, indicating different degradation mechanisms. Through UV-Vis spectroscopy and oxygen permeability tests, versatile stabilization mechanisms of TrGO such as UV light blocking, oxygen diffusion suppression, and free radicals scavenging were revealed.

Summary: This study presents a persulfate-promoted reaction system for the synthesis of SCF3-substituted dibenzazepines or dioxodibenzothiazepines through the reaction of aryl acetylenes with AgSCF3. The final products were confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. The reaction system was further explored through scaled-up experiments, additional transformations, and radical inhibition experiments.
