Gram-scale experiments and synthesis of antitumor active compounds demonstrate the practical applicability of this protocol.

Summary: An unprecedented electrochemical cross-dehydrogenative coupling reaction has been developed for the direct synthesis of α-substituted isochromans by coupling isochroman with unactivated ketones. This method allows for the direct activation of the C(sp(3))-H bond adjacent to the O atom of isochroman and features high atom economy, chemical oxidant-free conditions, and mild reaction conditions. Methanesulfonic acid (MsOH) serves as both electrolyte and catalyst, making the process more convenient and environmentally friendly. Gram-scale experiments and synthesis of antitumor active compounds demonstrate the practical potential of this protocol.

Summary: Asymmetric functionalization of the C(sp(3))-H bond using chiral phosphoramidite-palladium catalysis was successfully achieved in this study, leading to the synthesis of enantioenriched beta-amino-gamma,delta-unsaturated carbonyl derivatives and providing a key intermediate for the asymmetric synthesis of Focalin. The research also revealed an umpolung reactivity of N-allylimines through a concerted proton and two-electron transfer process.

Summary: A simple and sustainable electrochemical method has been developed for the direct synthesis of C9-functionalized N-alkyl-acridanes from acridanes and benzo fused lactones. This reaction proceeds under metal- and external oxidant-free conditions at ambient temperature, and provides good to excellent yields. The anodic oxidation of acridanes allows for a broad substrate scope and high functional-group tolerance, enabling the synthesis of a wide range of fluorescence-active acridanes with high quantum yields.

Summary: A mild and convenient protocol for the synthesis of alpha-alkoxy isochroman derivatives has been reported in this study. The electrochemical alpha-C(sp(3))-H/O-H cross-coupling reactions of isochromans and alcohols in the presence of benzoic acid were used, which facilitated the electro-oxidation process and increased the product yield. The desired coupling products were obtained in moderate to high yields.

The selectivity of the products can be easily adjusted by modifying reaction conditions such as catalyst and base amounts, choice of base, and reaction temperature.

The redox-neutral reaction shows good functional group tolerance and excellent regioselectivity without the need for additional base or ligand control. Furthermore, this approach has been successfully applied for the late-stage modification of short peptides and analogues.

Summary: The carbon-carbon bond-forming cross-dehydrogenative coupling reaction using organoselenium catalysis involving a high-valent para-methoxyphenyl selenium species has been developed. This method enables the synthesis of alpha,alpha-disubstituted alpha-amino acid derivatives with excellent regioselectivities through vinyl or allylic C-H functionalization. The generality of this method has been demonstrated by the cross-coupling of an alkene with an oxindole and the direct functionalization of electron-rich arenes with azlactones.

Summary: Cross-dehydrogenative coupling is a powerful tool for constructing C-C and C-heteroatom bonds. In this study, a visible-light-mediated radical CDC of C(sp(3))-H/C(sp(3))-H and C(sp(3))-H/C(sp(2))-H was reported, guided by a phenyl radical and intermolecular hydrogen atom transfer process. This strategy enables the efficient coupling of inert C(sp(3))-H and C(sp(2))-H with alpha-N C(sp(3))-H of amines, showing good regioselectivities and yields. Mechanistic studies revealed that the EDA complex triggers an intermolecular HAT process.

Summary: In this study, Pt species embedded on ordered mesoporous carbon (Pt/OMC) hybrids were synthesized rapidly using a facile microwave-assisted route. The formation of the electrocatalysts was confirmed by various characterization techniques. Due to their unique structure and synergetic effects, Pt/OMC hybrids were found to be effective and sensitive electrocatalysts for the detection of acetaminophen. The successful fabrication of Pt/OMC hybrids could open up new opportunities for the preparation of electrochemical sensors for pharmaceutical product determination.

Summary: The study demonstrates that thermally reduced graphene oxide (TrGO) has inhibitory effects on the thermo- and photo-oxidation of isotactic polypropylene (iPP), with stronger stabilization effects observed as the TrGO content increases. Under photo-oxidation, TrGO leads to an increase in the proportion of ketones and lactones, indicating different degradation mechanisms. Through UV-Vis spectroscopy and oxygen permeability tests, versatile stabilization mechanisms of TrGO such as UV light blocking, oxygen diffusion suppression, and free radicals scavenging were revealed.
